This totally sums it up for me. I got the OR without the upgrade package that has the sun roof and all of the other stuff. I accept all the funky quirks and I love the focused attention on a solid trail prowess platform. Everything else I accept all the funny stuff. It’s like a girl that has a lot of great stuff going on but some weird stuff too. That might be the Keanu in me talking I don’t know.

I now see I was enticed by the title of this thread. What could this be about? How can I help? After surviving that monumental cringe moment, psychotic Lawrence Welk on acid montage, I’m gonna try and sleep now!

Hate to bust your bubble but the OVtune, while it makes the truck better for sure, it does not fix what's wrong with this truck...namely a transmission with two overdrives. Yes, I have the latest OVtune.

I LOVE my two overdrive gears!

But you also have a 4.30 rear end while the AT has a 3.9...and that has nothing to do with the transmission, but was a poor decision by Toyota to make the rear end AND the top tranny gears higher in the AT...:(

I didn't realize that. that does seem like an odd choice. I'm ignorant (obviously), but was that something they did for mileage numbers or what?

I actually had the same problem with the transmission constantly shifting too when I first bought it with 4 miles. I even told my dealer about it. I noticed after a couple thousand miles it literally just stopped shifting weird on its own. Its smooth now. Ive owned it over a year with 24,000 miles and I love it. Best vehicle ive had so far hands down. After I found out this new transmission just really has to learn the way you drive for the first couple thousand miles.

I think its more that most people are just dumb!

And then you have the people who just feel entitled to more... or so they think! They just make things more difficult for everyone else!

    Uh...o...k...
I was simply stating that I didn't realize the MT had a lower rear diff gear ratio than the AT...but you're welcome to turn it into an exhibit for your insecurities I guess.

My "mental deficiencies", could I but gift them to you, would change your life my dear Algernon.

Funny you should mention Pro ownership and mental issues:

Guess my post got removed, sorry if I offended someone.

But anyways, I was making reference to the comment about sport owners. Well poking fun at it, and figured the Pro was a higher end version of the sport/OR.

    Oh well I give up.

I had the same problem of the truck hunting for gears when heading up the mountain. I added the TRD Performance Intake and it completely got rid of the truck hunting for gears. I know a lot of people on here don't believe that it works, but my truck runs great now. I'm in Broomfield if you would ever like to see how my truck handles going up a mountain.

I have the trd intake too, and it might be worthless, but I thought I noticed things smooth out after installing it too. I also stay in ECT the whole time and that makes a big difference.
