I never did come back to update this, but I got a softopper and I am 200% happier. It is awesome.

The material is thinner and more flexible (a good thing to me). There is only one seam going around the entire perimeter of the top, none at all on the top "flat" surface. No seams stretched or showed light.
Installation and removal is cake. No stupid J-channel things to screw around with. It sits perfectly flat, and on my truck is exactly even with the top of the cab.

    I couldn't be happier.

Hey I just bought a bestop and I have a question when you installed in on the bed did you removed the plastics pieces on the top on your truck before you laid down the rails because it seems like it's not flush on the tailgate and how was the install of the 3rd brake light? I haven't wired it in yet or installed it

I did not remove any plastic pieces from the bed. You aren't supposed to. My tailgate bar also had a gap no matter how I adjusted it. It was also too far toward the front of the truck as I already mentioned.

I didn't even bother with the brake light. It looked and felt like it would break if I even attempted to install it.

Ok I had a hell of a time to get the top on I had to use a hair dryer and stretch it I thought a 3rd brake light was mandatory to have I would rather not install it because it looks cheap but I don't want to get pulled over either

I have no idea if it is mandatory or not. It probably depends on your state. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep it on a shelf somewhere and when you get a ticket, install it and there's a good chance you'll get the ticket dismissed. YMMV though.

My $0.02... Return it while you can and get a softopper.

If there is a tail gate gap, you have the bar installed the wrong way. Takes a minute, but if you look at it and play around, you'll get it.

My bestop fits perfect. No complaints. If you take the time to install it correctly, it fits nice and tight, and serves its purpose perfectly.
