So I guess they don't want to sell the truck?

Mate, I’ve gone to a different continent to buy something and left empty handed because it just wasn’t what the seller had claimed.

All the advice presented to you is accurate. It may be the deal of the century but asking for more pictures will likely always end the same with no response. It’s not because they don’t like you, it’s just that they don’t care enough to take pictures of a frame that they can see some rust on. Since most sales drones don’t actually know anything about cars past what the flash cards they look at teach them they’d have no idea what a little bit of normal surface rust vs. rot would look like.

If it looks like a legit deal from where you are sitting offer a refundable deposit to hold it and get up there within 24 hours. Hopefully it will be the perfect example for your needs and the negotiated price hits the mark.

Welcome to TacomaWorld. We may not always tell people what they want to hear but you’ll find that the bulk of us will try to open your eyes to what your emotions may overlook.

    really

If the car you currently drive is that bad off just hand the salesman the keys and say, $300- Trade In.
    Then drive this truck home.
But then... you're right. You may not even make it to the dealer in your current ride.
I've made it farther... in worse for sure.

Please change the title of this thread.
    It should read:
"So, I guess I don't want to buy the truck" :boink:

IF there's a buyer they can always reply w/ sorry, the truck is sold. Don't promise something you won't deliver. That's bad business. However, they are car salesman for a reason.

That, or just scumbags by default. I can't say that about all of them though. We had a couple of real straight forward good ones. The rest can suck a nut though.

I've bought used cars and had the dealerships drop them off at my house on more than one occasion. Those scoundrels will do anything to make a sale, usually.

If I wasn’t so damn lazy I’d post all the text messages and email photos over the last 8 months of all the 12-15 Tacoma’s frames dealers sent me.
I’ve seen 2013 Off Road under 40K “Toyota Certified” with unthinkable rust given its age. Came across a few like that.

Put a deposit down if you are serious.

That's what I did when looking at a vehicle that was 8 hours away. The salesman sent pics of everything I asked for.

To the original poster: Sorry that you are frustrated by the dealer and some of the responses here -- even though the folks here are trying to give you their honest, straightforward opinion (which makes this forum so incredibly valuable).

Bit of guidance that I would offer:

First, you need to forget about the dealer. Yes, they should send you the pictures. Yes, they should be more responsive. Yes, they should offer better service. But, honestly, so what? You can't change their behavior or impact them in any way -- that much is apparent. Don't worry about their actions. Worry about what you can control.

Second, ask yourself this -- do you really want that truck? [ Remember the dealer doesn't care. They are going to sell it anyway ]. If you really want the truck call them and put in a deposit on it. That will get their attention. Then make plans to get there and really look at the truck and decide in person. A few pictures won't really tell you that much and for such an important purchase you will want to see it in person anyway.

I understand two hours may seem like a long way -- especially if you have a car that may be unreliable. Consider renting a car then for the trip. If I rented a car to visit the dealer I would just negotiate hard the price of the rental off the price I paid for the truck so it was a wash.

This comes down to whether or not you want the truck and what you are willing to do to lock it down.

There may not be a better or closer option. Sorry to say it but it is really go or no go time and the decision is entirely driven by you and not the dealer.

Thanks man. If I didn't want it, I would have not gotten the loan done, insurance ready. All of that was done yesterday. I just need to activate the policy. And fact, I found out something interesting about the truck that the insurance agent showed me.
And from previous experience, I am not sure if this applies anywhere else but back in NM, dealers do not accept deposits on used vehicles. If I am able to get in touch with one of the sales people at the dealership, I will mention putting down the deposit, no biggie. I couldn't reach anybody there today. And I already told them that I would come and pick it up this Saturday at noon.
Renting a car is a very good idea, I totally did not think of that hahaha

Can you at least post a link or pics to the truck? It may help recruit some TW members that live in that area to possibly check out the truck for you......or buy it themselves just to teach you a lesson in not taking the short road trip in the first place.

Before I got mine last year, I was looking at a different truck at the same dealership, two hours away in Huntsville Alabama. The salesperson was texting back and forth with me about it and I asked if he could send some pictures of the frame. This guy had ZERO clue about what a frame even was. First, he sent me pictures of the front shocks. I then explained to him what the frame was and he went back out and snapped a picture of the skid plate..... I then had to explain AGAIN what the frame was and so he went out, while recording a video on his phone, crawled underneath, and took a video. a solid 80% of the video was the exhaust and the other 20% was the frame. And while he was videoing, he was talking and at one point he said "man, you're making me earn this business!" Kinda pathetic.....

Yeah, unfortunately, some of the masses don't wrench on their vehicles so I can see the issue there with the sales guy. That may explain the lack of responses for frame pics the OP is getting. They maybe driving their shiny BMW's with their slacks/dress shirts but would be oblivious if their vehicle's frame looked like this:

I doubt if the masses know if the vehicle they drive has a frame or not.

To be fair, though, the Car Fax report shows it as "Great Value":
    https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/5TFLU4EN3EX093866

And Car Gurus shows it as a more reasonable (in my opinion) "Good Deal" at $1,501 below the market:
    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...y=d311&zip=65202#listing=243026260_isFeatured

If that is the same car -- I think it is.

It is up to the original poster on how bad he wants that truck, of course, but personally looks like there are a lot of other good values in the area. I would really comb through Car Gurus to see if there were better options (there always are) as a back up plan.

They think that this is an aftermarket ram air kit painted with "rust"-o-leum red hammer paint:
