Alright update: Ordered new clutch/ pressure plate, and the URD throw out bearing replacement kit. I have all the parts all ready to go, I just have to find someone to put them in. I have two guys in mind, One wants $350 to do everything the other has not given me a price yet. I also picked up the URD short shifter and some redline MT90.

I would like to do it myself, it's a good chance to learn.....but at the same time i don't want to F anything up. So I think paying to get it donee is the way to go. The guy that I think is going to do it is a TOYOTA man himself owns 3, driven them all his life. He did all the tranny work on two of my buddies trucks, so I've had good reviews about his work.

Stopped by the transmission shop today. Guy is going to charge me $350 to do the work plus the flywheels re-surfacing (probly $40-50 more). Like I said he is a toyota guy, loved the truck, and explained everything really well. so in 2 weeks i'll have have a new clutch and that rotten chirp will be no more!!

Got my truck back last night.........holy shit what a difference. Never had a vehicle with a brand new clutch assembly. It's like butter. nice and easy to go through the gears, pedal feels soft and free. It's like a brand new truck. AND HERE'S THE BEST PART.............NO CHIRP FROM THE THROWOUT BEARING!!! That would get on my nerves so bad, but now it is gone :D.

    Wow Holyfield:
You jumped right in! Good for you...I have been waiting for my guy to get me a price quote for the parts. My buddy got me pricing, clutch kit was not in stock, but he could source the parts and the prces were reasonable. I asked him about replacing the flywheel and he said to simply have it resurfaced ($50) won't need to buy a new flywheel, so this will save another $200.00-$250.00. Since my guy is taking his sweet time, I have checked with a local shop, he works on heavy trucks, etc., and just did a full clutch job on a 3.4L, The total cost was $875.00, labor (about 6 hrs assuming no broken bolts, etc.) new friction plate, pressure plate, bearings and flywheel but, not a clutch master cylinder. Seems pretty reasonable, and his parts came from NAPA, 2 doors down (Prolly Chinese?).

So, right now I am waiting for my Toyota guy, he charges around $350-$400 for the labor, but needs the truck for about 2 full days, since he does this at night, after work. The parts will run about $350.00 (no flywheel, yes to master cylinder). So I could save about $200.00 overall, vs. the local guy who can do it in a day. I am not in a rush, BUT I would like to get this done before I tow my car to NJ the end of this month. B4 I know it, the three weesk will have passed.

Psyched to hear your good news. Sounds like resurfacing is the way to go, along with the other parts. so now she is smooth as silk, no issues at all, that's awesome.

Yes get the flywheel resurfaced, thats what i did. Everything is like new, smooth with no chirping. I lived in NJ till I was 19, where you going? I was from Blairstown, about 20 min from the PA border on rt 80, Delaware water gap.

    Holyfield:
I grew up outside Philly. So, I am going to stop by the ole' hood, say hi to a few folks then on my way to New Jersey Motor Sports Park in Millville to 2 days of track time. This will be my first long tow with truck, trailer and car, plus gear etc., While I am not overly concerned, this will certainly be an experiment as I am pushing towards the limit, with about 5500 lbs behind my little truck.

take it to the dealer first and see what they say and if you going to replace something you always replace up it may cost a bit more but alls your going is extending the life of your truck and making more capable in the long run!
