    UPDATE:
Skip to the end to see the new Monstalined Tailgate. I really like the Monstaliner product. I'll be using it on my sliders and skids when they arrive as well. Just figure some of you guys might want to know about the product if you don't already.

The damage. And, this is AFTER I pushed the dents out the best I could by hand from the back side...

I don't know. I think it might end up looking kinda cool?

Looks like your spare tire will cover that up.

Pure stupidity... Believe it or not, in the garage trying out my new High Lift. I wanted to know if I could pick up the rear of the truck with my D-ring hitch insert and JeepNeeds D-Lift adapter. I can, but, the base of the High-Lift slipped out on the smooth floor. You can see the result.

    The drinking began immediately after.

It does. But, the evidence of my pure dumbness needs to be gone... :D

Its only sheet metal. If you take the lock mechanism out and really work hard at it, you can get that pretty close to the way it was. That's what the body guys would do. Well, no, they would probably replace it. Less skill involved.

Look at the bright side...It is less likely that someone would want to steal your tailgate now. :)

Yeah, probably. I already ordered the other stuff though. Maybe I'll try it though. That way, I'll have a spare for next time.

    Alright, that's just awesome.

You know, I didn't think of that! It's good to see a "glass half full" kinda guy on here.

That Lindsey has always been a show off.

That's a good idea. That was my first experience with a High-Lift. Nothing like learning the hard way...

Although, I'm with you. No more of this smooth surfaces stuff for me either.

You think? I didn't feel very lucky... Lol!

I know what you mean though. The D -Ring Adapter kept the High Lift attached to the truck. Might've saved my shins?

Ha! As a matter of fact, your bottle opener helped to facilitate the ensuing drunkedness...

Wrapping up a recent camping trip and was in a hurry, I proceeded to leave my tailgate down as I parked the trailer. My window was rolled down, so I got to hear the fantastic CRUNCH as I made the first turn and my tongue jack crushed the top edge of my tailgate. I feel your pain.

Based on the dent and the location, you might be able to get one of the paintless dent repair guys to pull that dent for you. I've had that work done on other vehicles (similar dumb causes) but it wouldn't work on my tailgate because i crunched it down. Since yours all came from the back, you might have a chance.

    Wow.

You understand WHY that happened, right? Lifting both rear tires means that the truck is free to roll back and forth, or move left and right. Basically the worst possible spot to lift from. You HAVE to use your brain when using a hi lift and you have to maintain lateral stability.

    Glad nobody got hurt though!

Yes, I understand why it happened. I had the wheels chocked in front of, and behind, the front tire. It didn't roll. I simply had never used the jack before. I started with the jack level. As the truck went up, obviously, the jack leaned in towards the truck. The slippery floor simply let the jack slide back. It slid out before the wheels even left the ground.

I was aware that it would be unstable left to right. I was going easy. Ready to stop and stabilize the jack should it move side to side.

But, Like I said. It was dumb. Lesson learned. Thanks for looking out though!
