It's where every car maker has to go due to CAFE but a small turbo 4 motor doesn't excite me at all.

Went to Toyota of Escondido Sunday afternoon, hot as hell! nice big facility and friendly helpful crew. Looked at the 4Runner again, didn't know 4Runner came with a 3rd row seating option.
Wife wanted me to look at and drive 2023 Tacoma SR5 quad cab which I did. 3.5ltr engine had some punch! Braking was superior to my 06 Tacoma. Nice solid ride. Good fit and finish in and out.
Damn, back to the drawing board! Did you know 80% of the financial decisions for home are made by women?!?!

Why not? Aside from the perceived loss in reliability, it's going to have way more usable power than the current engines offered in the 4runner and the Tacoma.

Yep new gen should be very interesting. Finally a truck motor with some balls below 3k rpm. And given that they all sound like crap anyways, no big loss going to a “blender” sound either

I actually like the sound of a 4 cylinder, sometimes, as long as it's not a raspy exhaust sound.

My TC has a Magnaflow muffler and a resonator tip (which actually reduces the drone), and I like the way it sounds.

Some of the cheaper mufflers do sound like shit, though.

Also, looking forward to peak torque below 2000 RPM's!

Dont get a 3rd gen. Id rather wait for the 4th gen. They will probably fix all the driving issues the 3rd gen has. The 4runner and Tundra are better options or even a 2nd gen tacoma 2012-15 with low mileage.

4Th gen will likely be a superior driving/tech experience. But is everyone willing to pay the 20% premium is the question?!

As soon as the 4th gen drops im sure alot of folk are gonna be trading in their 3rd gens for the newest one. That was actually a talking point on the 4th gen Tacoma that the engineer mentioned . He said they improved driving and performance for 4th gen because of all the complaints they had with the 3rd gen tacoma. The interview was somewhere on youtube. It was actually the first time ive seen someone from Toyota acknowledging the weird driving characteristics of the 3rd gen.

Dealership gave me a new 4x4 SR5 4Runner for about 3 weeks a couple years ago. I had my Tacoma in for a pre trip oil change when all the fuel pump recall stuff was going on. I never had a problem, but they gave me this for my road trip. I thought it was great, ran good at highway speeds..80+ MPH, trans didn't shift funky like My Tacoma, but it did get worse gas mileage.

If I had kids at home I think it would be perfect.

The thought of trading my Tacoma in on it did cross my mind, but I hate being in debt. Still have my Tacoma, and no regrets.

I was interested to see the recommended oil notation under the hood was 0-20w for Southern California. I'm not giving up on the 2023 Tacoma. Never say Never! Just got to work on the "Boss". Only thing I did not like about the 4Runner was the seat material of the SR5. Reminded me of the material on the K-Mart couch we bought once when we were just starting out.

SR5 Premium gives you "leather" seats, one of the reasons I recommended it. Not a fan of the stock cloth.

Yea, I feel ya on a 4Runner. Went and had my 15k tire rotation done. For fun I walked the lot and saw a Barcelona Red TRD ORP 4Runner w/KDSS and the factory options I wanted. (that's what I crossed shopped against that Taco) MSRP 50,100. Saw a couple TRD Pro's in Solar Octane, a 40th edition, and the very pretty Nautical Blue. Didn't bother talking numbers. When I walked back up to this afterwards, I remembered how I was a very smart man 2 years ago, and how happy I am today.

Just bought my wife a '23 4runner sr5 premium 4WD, 14k miles used in barcelona red. Man its a sharp ride, and IMO rides better than my '18 taco. The tacoma is a sport, so that might be why :anonymous: About to hit 100k on the taco and gonna take it to 250k or 300k hopefully, but i love the runner for sure. Glad we nabbed the 4.0 before they're killed off.

Rides like the day I bought it. Planning on a bilstein upgrade in the near future, but I'm not in a rush. Just curious, whats making you wanna sell the lime pro?

Those critters that pop out of no where 9 months after you have a night of fun with the wife.
