It doesn’t. Thing was slow AF just like the Tacoma. Engine was really similar under most conditions

46 vs 57 msrp to msrp. This 4 runner had those atrocious steps though that added $699 not to mention a 8k markup but I didn’t mention that since it’s apples to apples

Look neither are fast. They are body on frame 4x4 vehicles they were never ment for speed but the 3.5 doesnt make any power down low and its paired with a gear hunting happy transmission. This is the worst combo for a pickup truck.

Yep. Just pointing out that I didn’t find the “premium” in the 4R. It’s equally flawed in my eyes in the same ways.
They are still good vehicles for what they are but I just don’t see how one is raved about and the other one ridiculed when they are that similar

Because one is drivable and the other is not unless you shell out money for a tune. I have both and love both rides but im just realistic.

As far as the steering - the BRO 4Runners tend to come with shitty alignment because they just slap the fox shocks on at port and I don't believe they realign anything.

I'm surprised by the road noise comment. I'm not sure how much better the third gen Tacos are than the second gens, but in my second gen it always sounded like there was a window open.

Also a little surprised by the ride quality comment, but I've never driven a BRO. From what I gather, Fox shocks tend to ride like shit unless you have them custom valved.

I'd recommend driving another trim before making up your mind all together. Although, the engine/ trans situation is the same across the board.

I heard the same thing about the TRD exhaust. I'm not a fan of droney exhaust, so that would bother me.

Yea the whole comparison was BRO to BRO. I actually heard that the best ride is in the off road with KDSS.

road noise was most likely the different tires. I have more “mall spec” tires on the taco than the 4R.

    Not everyone thinks that way.

I haven't shelled out any money for a tune in my 2016 because I like how it drives. I'm also not interested in getting a different truck after driving it for over 7 years. I have no interest in the 4th gen at all.

I drive my 2022 all the time with no tune. I don't have this vision that I'm driving a sports care when I'm in it and that it is a truck. Works for me.

Seems odd. I would take our 4Runner over my Tacoma any day as far as ride. No issues with transmission hunting either.

Thats good. I had a pedal commander on mine for awhile then just went for a tune. Much happier. I couldn’t stand the way it drove stock. Drove me nuts.

Your price listed there probably doesn't reflect D&D as well. What does your actual window sticker say?
