The past two weeks have been crazy for weather up here. The separate storms with 100+ mph winds and driving rain. In florida they have hurricaines, we have just another wednesday.

What kind of temps do you get in the winter and summer? Id think winter would be fairly close, but i bet our summers are way cooler. 70 degrees feels like a heat wave..

I was on google converting those as you edited that.. but thats not too much different as far as winter goes. At least where i'm located. Interior Alaska can hit -50-60F. Which is way the hell too cold in no matter what sign you use for temperature...

Yeah ive heard they are great tires, also got my Dakars coming also. I've been running bfgs for years and I commute from Palmer to anchorage for work. Never ran studs either. Next order is a pipe bender lol. Gonna fab up some sliders for the 06 and 99.

I wish. Got too much going on down here right now to make a change like that. 1 semester away from my degree, still need to finish my recovery from surgery (probably 6-12 months), starting the police academy next year (assuming the shoulder is healed ), possibly starting a job with LAPD CRT soon (Crisis Response Team), flying to NY for vacation in January, and on top of all that, its getting pretty serious with the lady so that kinda throws a wrench in it too. ALthough I think she would love it, I dont think now is a good time for a change like that just yet. But certainly in a few years, I may consider it. I think I would apply with a PD first and fly up for testing etc, and if I got hired then make the move. Wouldnt wanna move away if I cant get a job doing what ive been working so hard for, for years now.

pretty much rains here every day on the gulf coast. then the sun comes out. it's always hot & humid except in the winter it's cold and humid. october through december are the best months here.

sometimes in january & february we have a couple dry months...and some winters it gets down to the 30's or 40's...but usually only for a few days and then it's back to the 50's & 60's in winter.

a little further south many homes don't have heat...or thermo-pane windows...or insulation. crazy crackers.

We usually have rainy summers and falls. Winter is almost all snow though. We got 300+ inches at my house last winter

I'm actually not sure about the military Ryan, I know the rules for civilians are two years residency in the state, not sure if it's different. I don't think so though.

I actually prefer the extreme cold if you can believe that. Haha my wife gave me a hard time because the other day, we had a pretty bad windstorm 100mph+ gusts, that knocked almost the whole town's power out, and I wanted to take a shower, so I did. Pitch black shower with no hot water, I'd guess the temperature was in the 40 degree range, and I thought it was great! So I guess to answer your question, we light a fire and continue with life as usual. It's rare that it gets that cold here in anchorage, I think the coldest I remember it being was -45 with the wind chill out at the airport. WE just de-ice the planes and continue on. Nothing gets turned off if you can avoid it to keep it from freezing. The diesel vehicles on the north slope literally run 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All depends on what you like.

Now if you give me 80 degrees above zero, I will freak out. That is waaaaay too hot. When winter happens up here and you climatize to 0 degree weather and it jumps up to maybe 25, you'll see the kids out with t shirts and gloves and boots having snowball fights like it's a heat wave. That's my favorite part of winter.
