Lots of misconceptions about the Prius. Some people think they are small cars when they are really a midsize car. Again not as slow as some people think either.

Yeah the Cooper's aren't very good tires. Had them on my Ford Fusion.

With a Prius you pretty much need to stick with Michelin, Bridgestone, or Continental (General is Continentals value brand not chinese). Find one that is LRR rated.

Yokohamas are efficient but crap tires from a traction standpoint. Have them right now and hate them, only paid $170 for 4 though.

I’m probably going with one of those brands soon. My Coopers are almost worn out but probably 50k miles on them.

Did you guys with the Priuses have to turn in your man card when you got one?

I went to Iraq at 18 and came back at 20, so I didn’t have too much hesitation to buy the Prius. I did have my ‘05 taco at the time but needed a car for Uber. Kept the 05 and used it for winter/fun until a dude ran a red light in March 2018.

Yep Prius is not slow, that damn game you play on the dash to score a 100 keeps you from wanting to feel it's get up n go.
Our 2016 average is about 54mpg over the last couple months..

I’m pretty secure in my identity no matter what car or truck I drive. Although people are a lot more open minded here in Colorado than up in Montana.

Priuses are pretty damn reliable. The batteries tend to last 10+ years, keep the air inlet for the battery clean and put a filter over it and they last even longer. There’s a few of them that come into work with 300k+ on the original engine trans and battery. If your looking for a new new car I’d avoid the corollas. The cvts have proven to be hit or miss on reliability. The new Camry’s 8 speeds haven’t had one with an issue yet, but a few highlanders and siennas have. Still too new to determine if it’s a reliable trans or not

Girl I used to date has a 2015 Corolla S I believe. The thing is pretty fun to drive, my impression was like a fighter jet as opposed to a B-17 WW2 bomber like my ‘05 taco was.

I’ve never had a Toyota that was not bulletproof. Time will tell on my 2010 taco but I’m betting money it will run forever. So will my Prius probably.

Just trolling. Thank you for your service.

...I live the SF Bay Area, those things are everywhere. I always pray I don't get stuck behind one, 'cause the folks who drive them around here drive as slow as possible. The slow ones are mostly New Age yuppie types. They gotta teach the rest of us a lesson.

My buddy's civic just died at 55k. Transmission went out. I was surprised to hear it based on Honda's reputation.

Yep, the “regular” Corolla has proven itself decade after decade; so why not? The OP was shopping the Prius and due to the very fact you stated, I suggested LOOKING at the new Corolla Hybrid. I hear it’s getting great reviews?!

What are the actual benefits of a hybrid Corolla over a "regular" Corolla?

    That is the question.

I think the "regular" Corolla is a last gen, and the hybrid and hatch are what ever gen the Corolla is on for 2020.

Wife has one and she likes it. The main Prius is hybrid but the prime can do 100% electric before switching over where the regular Prius cannot

Not to be rude but the hybrid implies that it’s powered by gas and electric power. It is not a fully electric car like a Tesla.
