Just about everyone is like that around here. I will be in Man this weekend to pick- up my rifle. I live close to Gilbert and when they have trail-fest it's pretty awesome 10,000 atvs running up and down the roads in a town of about 800+ people

    I've lost count....
    I have a Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker in .30-06. It's a great gun in a great caliber.

looks like it will be a 280 rem. It's a good round but I would rather have the 06. I know a guy who may want to trade for a TC encore in 243. I'll think about it

You could consider exchanging for a pistol. I did that back a few. Won a rifle and walked out with a nice .38 hammer-less for under $25 difference. Just my two cents..

I shoot a .280, although mine is Ackley Improved, but pretty much the same thing. I think it's the best cartridge out there and I have many to choose from. It just about splits the difference between 270 and 30-06. If you reload there are a ton of bullets to choose from in 7MM (.284 aka .280) if you don't reload there is still plenty of factory stuff. A .280 case is basically a necked down 30-06, or a necked up 270. They are just about the same except for bullet diameter. I think it's absolutely the most efficient rifle out there, it doesn't waste powder and you have great barrel life. Mild recoil. If you reload it you can push bullets to nearly what a 7Mag will do ballistically, and you use about half as much powder to do it. You are a fool if you take a loss on it's value just to get some antiquey cartridge that everyone and their brother has.

22-250 all the way. Killed numerous deer with mine and I have never had the first one run even a foot.

.280 is a fantastic cartridge. 3000 fps, 140 grain bullet. More punch than a .270 and less kick than an 06. I love mine. Just my 2 cents.

You lucky SOB. Browning in my book is the best. I have a A BOLT in .270 and can drive nails at 200 yards. GREAT GUN I will buy it from you for $200 P.S. That gun really sucks, I would get rid of it ASAP

I really appericate all the advice and I think I'm going to keep the .280. Probally sell my Winchester model 70 in 270 wsm and buy a scope for the Browning. The Browning won't fit in the gun safe it's too full. My wife says I need to sell a few guns and make some room. I think I need a bigger safe.

Unless you already have a .223, that is the route I would go. The .270 is great for deer when you need it. The .223 is great for coyotes and about the cheapest centerfire you can take to the range. The A-Bolt is a nice gun, I would stick with that model.

I do love the .243 also. It's a fun gun to shoot.
