    Fuck that. Cummins Straight 6.

No fucking way in hell. Have you seen the size of that thing?

And I think you mean 7.3L diesel. First I've ever heard of 7.2 but I could be mistaken.

    Eitherway...it's fucking huge.

I've seen a first gen with a 383 stroker in it at dumont dunes. Of course it was fully caged but still badass

I don't remember of any S10 having a V8 option. The generational motors were mainly the terribly underpowered 2.8 V6 and then the 4.3 V6.

    A V8 conversion in a S10 was a common mod in the 80's.

Uhh, no. The S-10 has NEVER had a V8 as an option.

OP...If you really want to throw 8 pistons under the hood, keep it in the familly. Use an Lexus 400 or 430 engine. Lighter weight, and similar power out put. AND....*gasp*...it would pass emisions.

I would have bet they existed, but since you said it didn't happen, I looked around and can't find anything to back me up. I guess it was just a rebadged engine swap. I just think I've seen more than one very early S10 with V8 and V8 badges. I thought it was a stock option. Fooled me, I guess. Never really studied S10's very thoroughly.

it might be the 7.3. ive never seen it in person but one of my buddies dads has a truck with that in it and its a monster. like i said doubt it would even fit. but it would be kick ass to have a 7.3 diesel in a yota i think

Eh. The weight in the front would be ridiculous. You would need some serious hardware on the suspension to carry that weight properly, as well as modifying the brakes so you don't go sailing through intersections. But 1200ft/lbs of torque in 4lo would be nice.

Yeah, the torque is really where it's at. This truck doesn't need any more horsepower unless someone's turning it into a track vehicle. 236 is WELL above what it needs...but over 300tq would be very useful for an improved towing and crawling experience, and that would be the big advantage of the V8s IMO.

Everyone's dream engine is a turbo diesel with like 175hp and 315tq...yup.

Why not use the first gen Toyota Tundra V8 motor. The first gen Tundra is very similar to our 2nd gen tacoma.
first generation Toyota Tundra was available with an LEV certified 32 valve 4.7-liters “i-Force” V8 engine that could produce 315 lb•ft (427 N•m) of torque and 245 horsepower

TRD prefaced a 2nd supercharger for a V8 engine that could churn out 400 lb•ft (540 N•m) of torque and 300 horsepower (220 kW) of power.
