"God made turbo lag to give the v8's a head start"

That being said my motorcycle is normally aspirated and makes over 150hp and only weighs about 400 lbs :)

normally aspirated powerplants is what I like and thats why I personally would like a V8 Tacoma and the reason I would not like a Tundra is because its to BIG and would never fit through any of the trails I drive.

Quoting myself. I think I'm now officially a post whore.

Anyway, consider this. A quick visit to Ebay shows that the 4.7 liter engine can be had for around $1500, but the 4.0 liter V6 is closer to $1900. Buy the V8, pay a fabrication shop for the swap and whatever custom work is needed, and sell your current engine.

If you assume $2500 for custom work, subtract the $400 net profit from the purchase and sale of engines, you're looking at half the price of a supercharger and you've got your V8 Tacoma with all the reliability you're looking for.

    As always, take pictures!!

Nice! I'm at 150 hp and 150 ft/lbs, but my ride is closer to 800 pounds.

Not quite that easy, You would either need to cut the wiring harness out of a 4Runner or make a stand alone unit to control your timing and fuel.
Still wouldn't be that big of a deal but not quite that easy.
I have actually thought about doing this myself before. I drive too much though. My 25mpg on the highway needs to stay until I get a new job or move haha. I drive 420 miles a week JUST to get to work and back.

I wish I was a beer... then I would be very happy. Then again if I was a genius I might be quite happy as well. :boink:

hmm..... i've kinda wished for a 4.7L tacoma, but with the sky rocketing fuel prices i dont know if they'd sell that well. maybe they should put it in the X-runner as a special performance package since its not gonna help for towing(truck size limits it) and its supposed to be the performance-oriented taco anyways.

Dodge Dakota and the GMC Canyon. Are there others?

Ford hasn't done diddly with the Ranger in years so nothing to report there.
