DAMM! There you have it Hailbop! Chris is the bottom line here. At this point in time with fuel and economy woes-those OTHER car makers will probably suspend production and Toyota won't touch a V8. Sad.

Dodge has a horrible reputation at the dyno shops. That 305 h.p. at the crank is probably close to 220 at the wheels.
I had a supercharged motor for 90,000 miles. Never burned oil, ran like new. Still ran like new when I sold it. How is it affect reliability?
On the newer trucks, there is no headache. Toyota got the AFR's right on the money (if not a little on the rich side). And the SC only adds about 60 lbs. to the vehicle weight. Much less than a V8 swap. :)

    Great points....:)

But I still would rather have a FACTORY Tacoma V8 than a V6 with an after market SC. I'm really impressed with the 90K you put on your supercharged vehicle but you and I both know that type of scenario is a rare instance... More moving parts heightens the odds of failure.

Also how does supercharged equipped vehicles do offroad against stuff like dust and vibration?

SC Kit will run you $5,000.00 plus you still need to buy more things to go with the kit that would easily be another $2,000.00....

No, its not. I have been around forced induction for a long time. If you run high boost and high compression, then yes, you will run into problems. The TRD SC is running 6 psi. max. boost. As long as the AFR is not leaning out, there will be no problems. The SC it self, is not much more than a small gear box and 2 twisted impellers. It also has a bypass system, which allows running in vaccume when no load ( or little) is applied, and if the engine goes into limp mode, the SC will be in bypass so as to not burn the motor up do to lean out.
    Like this?

I beat this truck like it owed me money. Never had a problem with it. Oil samples all came back good. At 100,000 miles, I pulled the head thinking it needed some maintenance. It didnt and I put it back on. It looked like new, No measurable wear on the cam lobes, just a nice golden oily inside. :D

None of these are "needed" with the install of the SC on a 2nd gen. Tacoma.

It makes the SC run better right? Doing important thinks like keeping the AF ratios and Timing in Check?

The ECU already does that on the newer trucks. Under full power, the new SC's AFR's are 12.0-12.2. Part of the install includes new injectors, and a reprogram of the ECU. Something that wasnt offered on the 1st gen SC'ed trucks, which is why it took alot to get them to run right. Also, If forced induction was soo bad/unreliable, dont you think that the trucking industry would have figured a way to avoid using it? Or the light aircraft industry, boats, etc. :)

Bore and/or stroke the 4.0 to 4.4 for 10% more displacement, work with the VVT and cam profiles, smooth large tube exhaust manifolds, with free flow cats, muffler, etc for about a total of 20-25% increase in power. Lighter than the V8, but even better; there is much more room remaining in the engine compartment so the cooling fan is not right up against the radiator, the exhaust manifolds are not almost touching the firewall and the inner fenders at the same time. That is just me; I have always hated an engine compartment that is crammed full to the point that many services require partial vehicle disassembly.

Im not trying to change your mind. Im just trying to debunk some myths that exist about SC's and the like. :)

i like the idea personally, unfortunately i don't think my wallet could afford the price of the fuel with prices looming on $5 per gallon for gas and crude oil at $131 per barrel today
