those are japanese imports that were never meant to race. look at BMW, their old M3 was a naturally aspired I4 with 200 hp and 200 ft lbs. look at porche, they all use small engines but are extremely high output. are you comparing small sedans that idiots soup up to actual small engined race cars? small and efficient is the way of the future. there will always be a place for pure muscle but it wont take up the majority of the market like it use to

Eordonez stated that, smaller more capable engines are the wave of the future... I said that vision was seen / tried and fell short I.E. Raced out imports. I never compared rice rockets to small engined RACE cars.... Not sure were you got that assumption from  But if you do wanna go that route think about what happens to those cars you made mention of once you start piling people inside. Major performance is lost because of the small motor.... Anyways a ferrari or lambo both V12 power plants will KILL a M roadster or a naturally aspirated porsche....

I hate to repeat myself but " there's no replacement for displacement":)

I don't like to waste reefer in my tires. I prefer it in the airbox.....makes my truck laugh, but then it gets thirsty.

i thought we were talking about performance, which is why i brought up the small engine race cars. and yes, a M roadster does get weighed down, and would lose a drag race to a Viper or Lambo. but you're comparing a $50k base price car to a quarter million dollar car when you compare it to the lambo and a 80 or 90k viper. and vipers handle like shit. they are fast in a straight line but thats it. i guess i'm more impressed by efficiancy than size. the M3 i was talking about is a 1990 inline 4 cylinder, naturally aspired with roughly 200hp and torque to match. to me thats much more impressive than a new viper with 10 cylinders and 2008 technology putting out 500 or 600 horses or whatever it puts out now. anyone can get power by using a huge engine, thats nothing special. i put more emphasis on engineering and ingenuity than i do huge motors

for the record, that was my brother, who is a terrible driver. it also had badass brakes until he hit a F150. plus it wasn't an M3, even the worse driver cant wreck one of those :)

No...... I'm talking about performance PLUS functionality... I wanna be able to merge on to the freeway at 80 mph with a bead filled with cement bags and my cab filled with people ( Please, don't tell me that would be on safe either, LOL:D). If I wanted a small efficient sports car for my budget I would have gotten an S200 or Subaru WXR. Compared to other V8 power plants in trucks the IForce 5.7 is kicking some serious A$$ and also won the Motor Trend truck of the year award. Don't get it twisted, efficiency is not lost due to bigger displacement....
