I have a 2019 OR dcsb. I want a taller stance with a good bit of tire filling the wheel well without a cab mount chop. In all honesty my truck sees dirt roads for "remote" (PA,MD and NY) hunting and fly fishing. I do encounter mud, snow on rutted trails but I am not a rock crawler looking for extended travel. I want the truck to be functional for my needs and to look good. Not a fan of the squishy front end on the road.

    So I ordered
    5100's front and rear
    Diff drop
    ECGS bearing
    1" block rear leveling kit

Then an impulse buy and probably a poor decision... I ordered OME 887 springs. Was thinking of leaving the 5100's at 0. But now I'm seeing I will likely need uca's.

I do not want to do UCA's as thats a lot more than I want to spend. I am unwilling to do the cab mount chop either. I'm looking at so many posts about 285/75R16 some are saying not cutting, others are saying minor cutting. I don't mind using the heat gun to form the inner fender well, or even a minor trim of the front bumper bottom edge.

I was going to stay with factory wheels with a spacer for the winter, then possibly look at wheels. I like the factory wheels and need to do this in stages.

Thinking I should go with returning the 887's, set the 5100's at the 4th setting and go with a smaller than 285/75R16?

My truck goes in October 19 to get it all done at one shot.

I have spent days looking at the forums, reading, looking at the pics. Now I have succeeded in confusing myself and overthinking.

If you can help guide me I'd appreciate it. Getting lost in all the variables.

Can you dumb it down for me? I'm a simpleton.

    Current stance

Since you already bought everything I would put everything on except the diff drop. Did the rear blocks come with longer u-bolts? If not make sure you have those. I wouldn’t be too worried about uca’s but it’s something you should budget for in the future.

If you want 285’s without rubbing you’re gonna have to cut. Tall skinnies seem to be the best compromise if you want a taller tire without doing CMC.

Longer U bolts did come with the rear block. Confused as to not installing the diff drop...

I'm liking the look of the 255/85R16! Don't know how I missed that in all the threads. If I go that size, send the OME 887 back? Do the diff drop or no?

In this picture my truck had 3" front 2" rear lift . Tires 285/75/16 km3's. Went to moab in April did a ton of trails never rubbed once . Now my trailer hitch ha savior. Also made me do urd crossover ypipe mod. Anywho it was a spacer in front , original Bilstein shocks all around, "diff drop bracket kit", rear was a 2" aal. I upgraded shortly after to 6" love it . Rides better than before .

5100's ride much better with the coil rather than raising the perch. 4th clip will ride firm, where as 0 clip 887 will be much better.

The reason for arms is to push the tires forward, the 285s rub and need more caster, anytime you lift you lose caster and ride quality because of this.

I say 2-3rd clip and 265/75R16 or go all in 887's with 285's, upper arms and cab chop.

I looked into all this, but I am not an expert. The diff drop is frowned upon because you lose ground clearance. It seems to only be needed if you lift over 2". This mainly keeps the CV boot from rubbing on itself. I have a hard time believing anyone that says they don't rub on 285 with no CMC. I have a video in my build thread that explains why lift doesn't give more clearance on IFS trucks. Wheel offset is going to be the major consideration in how much trimming you need to fit the 285. The more negative the offset, the more trimming. You do need around 0 or less to clear the upper control arm with 285. I'm running 285 with no lift on -10 offset wheels. A lift would make the rubbing less frequent but I would have had to cut exactly the same stuff to actually clear

Sounds like you should return everything and go to Toyota dealership for the OEM lift...

Update- I returned the 887 coils. Installed everything else with a mechanic/family friend that let me help so I gained knowledge. He recommended the diff drop and said it wouldn't hurt, possibly help. Ecgs bearing was the worst part, but wasn't bad. Installed spidertrax 1.25 spacers (don't beat me up plz). Truck rode way better coming home with the bilsteins. Love the stance. Deciding between the 255 and 265/75 BFG KO2's for the very near future. Alignment is tomorrow. Too dark for pics this evening, will take some tomorrow. Thanks to all for the help (even if I didn't follow your suggestions, your input and ideas were valued and much appreciated). You all are awesome!

Speaking of misinformation.... this is one of the biggest misunderstandings on this forum. (And I'm saying this with JBA high caster UCAs on my truck)

Added caster from the UCA does NOT move the wheel forward. Think about it. In fact, all else equal, if you are INCREASING caster by moving the ball joint on the UCA BACK, then at full stuff, your tire will in fact be closer to the cab mount.

High caster from the LCA would move the tire forward, but stuffed would be about the same, and nobody really does lowers unless they are doing LT.

Someone somewhere years ago said high caster let's you run bigger tires, and thousands of people bought high caster UCAs without thinking about it... lol

Caster angle also translates to wheel position.

if I had more free time I’d set a truck to 0 caster and 3 to measure wheel position.

    I’ve done thousands of alignments.

that said the lower arm is more responsible for position. Upper arm just allows for more and proper camber.

    Here it is...
Next step will be ordering tires (265/75R16 KO2's)
