Xxxx. I wasn't meaning I asked 4wheelparts their opinion. I just use their search engine it look up lifts and tires from time to time for a reference. Nor have I ever ordered from them. Cause I get all my parts at a dealer cost.

If I buy the OME lift. What options should I get with it. Keep in mind my truck mainly sees highway with very slight off road. Nothing ever major and I will be running duratracs

I would get some upper control arms if it were me. I don't care what anyone says, any lift over 2.5" requires UCA's to get a proper alignment. Some will say that their alignment is in "spec" after a 3" lift, but the "spec" is a pretty wide area. If you don't mind having a very light feel through the wheel, and tires with camber like this \ / then that's cool, but if you want it to drive nice and straight, not be twitchy, and not wear out your tires, do yourself a favor and get UCA's.

Lots of different brands, depends on your need's, and what you want to pay. Total Chaos, Camburge, Light Racing...

I have Light racing because thay are a good price, work for my application, are adjustable, and have a covered ball joint that is replacable. I live in Canada, and didn't want an open ball joint to get filled with snow, sluch, salt, etc...

For the OPs intended use I really don't see the issue with him running spacers on top of his coil/strut assy. Won't affect his ride on the street at all, he's never going offroading so there's not really any ill side effects that an expensive lift negate.

As for tires, that's your choice. I run 285s and they rub a tiny bit, all it would take to stop that is trimming some of the plastic behind the front bumper. Not really a big deal, nobody would ever notice that plastic missing.

For me it would be very difficult to justify buying a performance increasing lift kit knowing I will never reap the benefits it has provided :notsure:

I'm going to run a good lift. I like said I spent 30k on a truck. I'm gonna have it awhile and I want a lift that will last as long as the truck. It's just a toss up between OME or the bilstein kit. Along with UCAs

Has anyone looked into the rancho 2.5" kit? It comes with coil overs, UCAs, and new ball joints. Only drawback is rear blocks. But that's an easy swap down the road

By Bilstein kit, do you mean the Toytec kit used in conjunction with the 5100's. Toytec sells it with the 5100's, or you can buy them seperately and buy the Toytec kit to use with them.

3" Lift with UCA, Grillecraft grille, XD rims w/ 285/70r17 duratracs, leer xq cap,
I am running the skyjacker 3" lift kit skyjacker shocks all the way around and rear AAL. I think it rides great and performs great only thing I have noticed is some wondering so i am getting new upper control arms for the added caster to get rid of the wonder and another alignment issues. I have to disagree on the bashing of skyjacker great company, great product and made in the USA opinions are just like you know what everyones got one. If your going to be rock crawling or things like that there are better more expensive lifts but skyjacker offers those as well. I am also running 285/70-17 I had 265/70-17 and within a month went back and went bigger with the 3" lift go with 285's. If your going to be offloading all the time and are worried about rubbing go with the 265 otherwise for just mudding and daily driving you should not need to trim much if at all. I only rub in reverse at full lock. I have not been on this forum long but i have been reading it for quite sometime and take it for whats its worth some people on here are much more into the off road scene than the norm and want the best of the best for that reason for the rest of us who use the truck daily and off road when hunting season is here no need to spend 5k on a lift, tire and rims. I would however go with a "real" lift not a spacer kit that you will regret.

On top of the strut/coil assy doesn't preload the coils any more than stock so I'm failing to see the difference. Between the coil and strut would certainly roughen the ride by not above.

FYI, I'm not an advocate of cheaping out, I'm just saying that for the OPs intended usage I wouldn't see a problem with a spacer lift.

That's gotta be at full droop. You'll lose down travel unless you preload the coils. That's what the billies do but they're valved to try and compensate for it.

I have to jump in on this. For someone not planning on wheeling it would be idiotic to spend 2k or so on a lift regardless of this bullshit about having an expensive truck(wth does that have to do with anything) unless said person just had 2k laying around.

I agree with you on the ride not changing and on not cheaping out(if you plan on wheeling).

I have a 3in spacer on top of a stock coil and my ride was same as stock for everyday driving with no offroading!!! Now with that said your suspension will max out over a speed bump with stock shocks(hence why i changed mine) But it would be perfectly ok to put a 3in spacer, longer shock combo FOR EVERYDAY "ONROADING" if you will

I will absolutely AGREE that if your gonna offroad you need a better lift even for light offroading. I have decided to wheel my truck now therefore i am taking off my spacer and adding ome884s. No i dont consider that wasting money because my original intention was to keep my truck on-road.

All these "spacer-haters" as i call them, no offense to anyone:D, telling stories of peoples shocks just magically breaking all caused by the spacer is from people offroading with a spacer and overextending or whatever the term is!

    Just my .02 :D

No way in hell is that from everyday driving. If so maybe guy should slow down for speed bumps or stop mall crawling so damn hard

    ^well said.

For street use/aesthetics there isn't a downside of spacers. If you want to use your truck then by all means to crazy!

Get the OME lift if you can afford it you wont be sorry. You can say you wont offroad all you want but hit a big pothole at highway speed and you will find out what spacers do.

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/OME-Tacoma-Suspension-lift-kit_p_231.html

Get the 884 coils unless you plan on adding wieght up front
Dont get the top plate spacers unless you also plan on adding new UCAs
Get them assembled if you dont have a shop that will do it cheap
You dont need a front diff drop kit
Get the 1 1/2 AAL unless you can afford the dakars
I dont think you need rear shock stone guards

I am not sure if it comes with new U bolts so ask about that when you call

Have you considered 255 tires as a option?
    http://www.discounttiredirect.com/d...tBy=prca&ar=85&fqs=true&rd=16&sw=false&cs=255
They will give you much better MPG than a 285 and wont rub as bad.

You gotta be kidding?? Hit a big pothole at what speed exactly? I hit potholes of all shapes and sizes all the time...0-80??? Evverything is still intact and in working order. I have a spacer!!

Anything and everything can go wrong when you hit a pothole...spacer or no spacer! Tire bulge, alignment, etc

You cant just say dont get a spacer because everytime you hit a big pothole your shits gonna get f'ed up. simply not true

Now dont get confused...Still not advocating spacers for offroading use simply stating that spacers for onroad use only is not a bad thing and your truck is not going to break everytime you change lanes or run over a stick on your drive to work.
