Ask him how he likes his tape deck, is it auto stop or auto reverse? Or did he splurge and get the "CD Player " option?

mine went through a whole rear axle. Nissan had the truck for 7 weeks trying to figure it out. Then a set of catalytic converters. Then the rear main seal. Then the transmission control module, and there was strawberry milkshake involved. The only thing covered under warranty was the rear axle. I sold the truck at 130k. Every time someone says Nissan is better, I laugh.

I have an 02 Frontier with 160 K and have not put a dime into repairs. Hell I just replaced the shocks and tires and swear it drives like new !! Though she won't win many races ( 2.4 )...rocks between 25-30 MPG and AC blows cold ! Could use a new driver side Sun visor though.....

After totaling my 2nd Gen Tacoma my insurance company gave me a 2016 Frontier in the interim. After 10 days of driving it, I was convinced I would never actually buy one. I bought a 3rd Gen Tacoma and have loved it!

Main reason I wouldn't consider a Tundra at this point. I don't think they've done anything for that for 12 years or more. Disclaimer: I love my Tacoma, just pointing out that updates are relevant.

Well, for full disclosure, I'd be willing to bet most in here would not classify Entune anything as leading edge tech... Just sayin'

Don't forget to add the CRO2 Metal tape button, that's leading edge for sure!

I like the white/silver gauge faces... Very first gen Tacoma.

The Frontier has a more comfortable and spacious interior over the 3rd gen Tacoma.

Reason i didn't buy another tundra, they just got too big, plus they still had the same fuel economy as my 01 v8. After having 2 gen1 tundras I really miss the wider bed, and softer ride, but i can work around it with the tacoma. Those 4.7 v8's were a sweet engine, but hungry.

I had an 03 Tundra (with the stepsides). Loved the truck, bought it used, but it was 2WD and after a couple of winters of me being mission essential in bad weather, my wife decided it was time for me to get a 4WD. Not regretting anything at all, but the Tundra was a thirsty one for sure.

Is my 3rd gen lacking power? Sure. Would it leave my old 2000 Ford ranger in the dust absolutely. Would it leave my 94 4Runner in the dust? Absolutely. This is a mid size truck. Not a full size meant for towing. Not a car meant for weekend track days. It can do 75 over a mountain pass with 1000lbs of shit in the bed any day, and in my opinion that’s plenty good enough. The Tacoma works for what it was designed to do

These 3.5 engines in the tacoma have enough hp. Imo, they lack low end torque. You tell them to go fast they will.

Frontier has a good old 4.0L V6 and not the 3.5L Atkinson Cycle V6 the latest Tacomas have; I’ve driven numerous 2005-present Frontiers, at least three 1st Gen Tacos, and a 3rd Gen Taco. I would have to say that the Tacos ride and handle better than the Frontier...

I also drove a 2002 Frontier with no tilt steering and I hated it because the steering wheel was pretty much in my lap!

Compared to my tundra the gen3 taco steering wheel is in my lap.

After a 300 mile round trip this weekend something loosened up in my Taco and it seems to have a lot more oomph than it did going down. Granted it may have just been working on getting broken in or I'm getting more used to it but it felt different. in a good way

The gen1 Tundras are the ultimate Tacoma. Perfect size, v8, and super soft ride/leather interior.
