Like mentioned, the chirp is normal and all that clicking too. The knock sound is what seems off to me. You sure you didn't possibly get some bad gas somewhere?

I would still show your video to the dealership... I’ve had my 3rd Gen for 1 1/2 years, I’ve never heard that knocking sound... Like stated above, chirp and clicking sounds, yes... knocking of any kind, no...

I have a 2017 , it does NOT sound like that. Yours sounds like it is hitting or doesn’t have fluid in there.

Right now it's not making that noise it did yesterday. Then again I haven't drove it as much either. I'll keep monitoring it. At least I have a warranty!

Ive had my truck almost 2 years and it has never made any sounds remotely close to what you hear in the video. I have the classic taco tick which is common to fuel cleaning. But does not sound anything like your high pitch and knocking.

The Tacoma V6 is also used in some quiet riding Lexus vehicles like the RX350 SUV and Lexus owners would not tolerate loud mechanical noises like that. So I do not believe the noise is normal.

That thing sounds like a 22re with a timing chain problem! Definitely get it looked at! The 2016 taco I had never sounded like that, it was smooth and quiet.

I believe what I saw referenced before was that the cleaning cycle only occurs when:

    1. Engine is up to temperature
    and
    2. Engine is idling

So if you are hearing it when the engine is cold, or on the throttle then it isn't the normal cleaning cycle.

Intake cleaning cycle. Doesnt happen all the time and certain conditions must be met for it to go into that mode, it will usually occur when driving and warmed up stopped at a stop light so you arent going to hear it in the cab as easily.
