So my truck won't start it cranks

Well my 2005 tacoma xrunner been sitting for like 5 years before I got from my brother who didn't have the cash to fix it so I got the clutch kit from urd and in stalled my self filled up with fresh gas new oil the works and put new batteries in crank but no start .some time the gas gage read half full and some time it read almost empty.i put some gas on a rag and put by the throttle body and the it turn on but once I take that rag away it turns off

 

Shitty fuel pump?

 

Check: fuel, spark, and compression.

 

Most likely something gummed up in the fuel system like pump or injectors from sitting for so long. Try and run it on carb spray.

Did you see if the security light continues to flash after the key is in the ignition?
