Slipped on the ice and grabbed the tailgate to keep from falling. Wedding ring gouged my paint on the tailgate. Anyone know what the part number is for the ice cap touch up pen? Can’t believe I did that!

edit: title should say ‘only’ not ‘once’

I believe the color code should still be 040 (ice cap/super white/white)

Yes that is the correct color/paint code. I just can't find it on the toyota parts website without the part number

In my experience dealerships typically have paint pens in stock.

    Oh look, another mod....
This is what I used to cover up a scratch/ding on my Voodoo Blue Tacoma. After I used it, I forgot the scratch was there:

The paint code for the 2023's are the same for the 2022's.

I got mine on Amazon from a dealership. I paid 13 bucks for and shipped free. It was a oem paint pen.

Dr. Colorchip makes a really nice touch up kit. It cost more than a touch up pen but it works better.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I've used the paint pens. A little advise.

    1. Shake the living fuck out of it. Then shake the living shit out of it. After that, shake the living fucking shit out of it. They separate and because all our colors have flakes of other colors you Really Really need to shake it up.
    2. Don't use the "pen" part. Use the brush below the pen applicator.
    3. Take the tailgate off and let it lay flat. It's very hard to fix vertical scratches.

Good luck brother, and remember wife was worth it!

Hey good thing you didn't hit the ground! I'd rather be fixing a scratch, then getting a cast on my arm and going through all that.
Depending on the length and the depth, you may reach out to your salesperson (if he or she is cool) and find out when their paint repair guy shows up. Dealers go through this so much, many have a day of the week they show up and do multiple repairs. I bought a truck and beat them so bad on pricing, they wouldn't fix a large scratch (and told me this upfront) but the salesmen got me their pricing on their paint repair guy. He did an amazing job for cheap.

Post a pic. You may be able to 'polish' it out. I scratched my passenger door with my lawnmower handle (F@%&!!!) and was able to polish it out.
I can't even tell where it was scratched.
