So Techstream for 2nd Gen is basically useless?

Pretty much stock for now. . .
I read all sorts of stuff about lots of customizations that people are doing (door locks and buzzers and more) so I got a cable with the program and I can't do any of it. Am I missing something?

I guess I should have done a little more research.

I hate it when that happens.

There isn't much tech on the 2nd gen to customize. I think it's cool that the 3rd gen, and other vehicles have the availability to change the settings and customize it to the drivers liking.

I'm not sure if I really like being able to change so many things through techstream, I'd always be wanting to change the settings.

I know, I wish I had the option though. . . Really the main one is playing the stereo with the door open without that damn buzzer.

You can disable the seatbelt chime.

2015 tacoma is the last of the simple scans, maybe 8 modules haha.

Modern Toyotas have 50+ modules, takes forever to scan.

My only issue with tacoma is the 4x4 system. Absolutely zero feedback or functionality. Just a blinking light.

With Techstream you can program your own keys and TPMS sensors. That’s why I bought it.

I’m still learning how to do it with my windows 10 64 bit laptop. I need to recalibrate my seat occupant sensor for make the airbag light go away. And also program my own keys

Yes it's quite useless in customizing the 2nd gen Tacoma because it's only the seat belt chime. However you can program new keys and new TPMS.

However with my 2018 $4Runner there are tons of options to customize.

So who has a link to the cable they're using? Also, was the software separate or included with the cable purchase?

I think any mini vci cable for Toyota will work. I searched on eBay for one and sorted by the ones shipping from the US. All the other ones were shipping from China with an ETA of sometime in July, this one is coming next week

    Just to be contrary.
The main purpose of Techstream is not the customize option....

OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics.

What he said......TS allows you to turn on of off those options that are available, as listed in the owners manual (like the seat belt and door open chimes). It is primarily a diagnostic tool.

My ABS and Brake! light light were on when I purchased my Taco and after lot of deductive trouble shooting I think it is being caused by the ABS brake pump control so I bought a used one for $50 instead of $1300 (installed)the Dealership quoted for a new one.
Any instructions on said ABS purge?
