What difference would that make? Are you trying to say that with different tires, he wouldn't have crashed?

just wanted to see the tires

the likelyhood of maintaining control in standing water, as an example, is higher with a tire like michelin LTX defender
which has contiguous grooves, [essentially making the tire more like 5 skinny tires], vs tires with fat tread blocks that zigzag
and do not have contiguous uninterrupted grooves. given equal circumstances and only the tread pattern difference, I'd
say yes some tires can bite through standing water better than others. In my experience (and I do a lot of highway) I've learned
what works best on highway at fair speeds in torrential rain or simply standing water and something like michelin LTX defender
(or old school LTX/ M/S) are the best in water. as some point no tire will save you, and without analysis it is mere guesswork
in OP situation if a tire would have solved the problem, but I bet on contiguous grooves and ditch tires with tread blocks that interrupt
and yup, big difference when you go fast in puddles with different types of tread patterns.

just because they 'look badass' with those treadblocks, they might perform like ass in standing water.

That is really splitting hairs and in no way are you going to be able to make a determination that a different tire would have made the result any different.

Some tires perform better in wet conditions than others. Fact. Maybe the guy is just curious what rubber OP has.

You are a literal wealth of misinformation.

I mean I put better tires on my truck and I dont slip around in the mud anymore...a good rain tire should make a difference.

Obviously you know nothing about tires and I am not really sure why you continue to stalk me, but if it makes you feel better, so be it. While some tires undoubtedly perform better than others unless the OP was running slicks barrowed from an F1 and as on dry pavement, judging from the damage, the slight difference in passenger car tires wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

The engine isn’t even cold yet, and you’re already scavenging for parts. Moment of silence please. Show some class here on TW. :)

Difference being is that you foolishly try to call out someone that actually knows the tire business when you don't. I have actual first hand knowledge having done more than my share of vendor "ride and drives" where tire companies try to prove their tires are superior by renting identical cars and put their tires on one and leave the competition on the others then let us drive the hell out of them for a few hours on a closed track. Having seen this with my own eyes, I can tell you that while there may be the slightest of variations, it is by no means significant. Even if the OP had a tire that may stopped another 2 feet shorter, looking at that damage, it wouldn't have mattered. 2 feet is about a realistic variation in stopping distance among passenger car tires depending on conditions. Obviously snow and ice can stretch those, but dry and wet distances do not vary much among manufactures. I know Goodyear tried to make some crazy claims with their Hydrotreads years ago, but those claims were quickly dispelled with actual hands on testing.
