    I would be curious if it has something to do with the sensors new vehicles are getting. Im a ford tech and I know that the newer ford windshields are special since they put a few sensors in the rear view mirror that have to see out the windshield, like if someones sensors are acting weird we check if its an OEM windshield and often its been replaced with a aftermarket glass and thats when the problems started.
    Maybe they are thinner due to thicker glass messing up the new sensors.
    Just my two cents.

    I have had two good sized rocks kicked up on my windshield. Interstate speeds. But it didn't do much more than a small barley noticeable chip.
