First murfreesboro is in Tennessee. If there is a murfreesboro in Canada I feel terrible for its commie residents.

    Secondly I was slightly drunk when I posted so let me clarify;

So I am coasting in neutral on the road b/c I am in traffic at around 8mph. If I decide to go to first it takes a decent bit of force to push it in and my truck will instantly slow down in a jerk motion. If I go to second and do not hold the clutch it will shake a bit till it gets up to speed. If I go to second and hold on the clutch till I get up to speed all is well but this doesnt seem healthy for the truck. Im guessing this may be just my vehicle but all the gear ratios are stock as I have checked.

Ive driven many manuals hot rod. None were like this truck iirc

I do this to no avail. Rev matching is the intuitive first conclusion but it doesnt work on my truck. A good friend of mines 2011 v6 6spd is like butter when I drive it. Im guessing the lack of power in 2.7 is what causes the gear box to be so finicky. Thnx

I love all these haters in here. If I were to flip in troll mode that little canadian fellow would have me banned quick again tbh

Cause: poor rpm matching. RPMs too low for selected gear and current vehicle speed. Even with a synchronized transmission, you want your upshifts to have the engine RPM matched to roughly where they'll be in the new gear - erring on the high RPM side rather than the low RPM side.

Cause: RPMs too low for amount of acceleration desired. Truck is lugging. Either accelerate more slowly, or select the lower gear - in this case first.

Hey OP does your truck have stock tires on it? If you have a 2.7 5 speed and bigger tires, you might need a re-gear.

This is a common complaint with the 5 speeds, and a source of frustration for me too. Wont go into 1st until almost dead stopped, even with rev matching and/or double clutching. Anything below 10 mph is too slow for 2nd gear and the truck will shudder like crazy even with very light throttle application. So if you're not in gear between 1-10 mph, your only option is to come to a stop and shift into 1st, then get on it before the person behind you starts honking. I've put 60,000 miles over 4 years on this truck, I'd still buy it again though :)

Yep I have larger alt tires. Just purposefully attempted perfect rev matching and still does it. I rev a little higher then necessary and still nothing.

I was talking about Oz. I got him super butt hurt on here and he got me banned so that is why I tread lightly. I just have superior wit and hale from a superior land none of which I can help.

First off you should NEVER be coasting in neutral. In many states that is illegal.
If 8MPH is lugging the truck in 2nd, and shifting into 1st while moving is a problem, stop the truck and shift into 1st. That little bit of time to stop and downshift will not hold up traffic that much. :)

As a 6speed owner, the ratio's are horrible.

Yes first is extremely low. I only use it to start from a stop. If I am rolling I keep the truck in 2nd gear.

For people saying don't coast in neutral, they are obviously not driving a standard. I do this often, and in no way is it unsafe.

As for the USELESS 6th gear (more like a gear 5.2). I can easily drive at 35mph in 6th on a flat road without lugging the truck. This is probably the best for MPG, but normally I use 5th around town.

I shift into 6th any time I am over 45mph and driving on a grade that doesn't require a lower gear.

That being said, if you know how to drive standard properly, the gear selects itself.

If you are bogging down, you are in to high of a gear. If you hear the engine excessively revving and you are gaining speed you are in to low of a gear. Practice makes perfect for selecting the gear you are in.

You really do give the south a bad name. Please stop, or apply for the one way ticket to Mars, or both.

This is a perfect description of the 5 speed. I usually go for the 2nd gear bog with a little clutch slip over forcing it into 1st. Replacing the clutch is easy, synchronizers not so much.

Lol@ not coasting in a manual or it being unsafe?? I am confused as to why it is unsafe tbh. How would a cop site you on it regardless?

    right, scooter
