So I have a '98 and, after reading some of the threads here, I went to do the hose clamp trick on the tailgate only to discover my tailgate is bolted in on both sides. Reading some other threads show people talking about 2000-2004 and other year separations. So the question is what are the differences in 1st generation beds?

    Thanks!

'05 ^ When Toyota started competing with and copying detroit

IMO... ruined Toyota trucks forever and I won't buy another.

All 1st gen. beds are the same bed, unless it's a double cab bed.
Even then... the tailgate remains the same.
