No argument that MT sales are less than 3% in the USA but that doesn't necessarily equate to only 3% of Americans being capable of driving a stick, just that they prefer to have an automatic.

So let's have a poll of who can and who just cannot row your own gears if you had to or wanted to.

Hell, once upon a time even the big ole U haul trucks were manual transmission only so I have to believe more people could drive a stick but just don't want to.

I have a manual, but I don’t know how to drive it, so I just leave it in the garage and sit in it and change gears while making vroom vroom sounds. Fun as fuck, but also pathetic. Work for me though.

I think nowadays people just don't want to have to learn to drive stick since they can just hop in and go in an auto. I chose a manual Tacoma because I'm not a fan of the way the 3rd gens get torque in really high rpms and the auto transmission wasn't great. So I ended up with a 2nd gen manual and I couldn't he happier with my choice. Family friend has a 2016 OR and dislikes the power band and gear hunting. I do like the 3rd gen styling more though.

I've never done it, never really had an interest. I am pretty sure I could figure it out if I had to though just like anyone else could.

Can drive manual. While shifting through SoCal stop and go and eating a carne Asada burrito AND managing to dip into taco sauce. 1 handed shifts. Zero fucks.

If a person finds traffic daunting, they need more protein and more leg days. Sry not sry.

I’ve actually owned mostly automatic 4x4’s over the last 30+ years (my Taco is an AT), but since I got my license almost 50 years ago, I have always owned manual cars as well. My wife’s car is a stick, as is our daughter’s. Our son owns an AT car but is manual-proficient.

No idea myself. Kept wondering why Subaru put a 3rd pedal in this car and why I couldn’t find driver or reverse.

I'm a retired truck driver so drove manuals most of my life. Now that I don't have to I never want to see another MT.
