I remember way back to Jr high school going to shop class and the teacher had a big cast on his arm. He had taken the science teacher deep in the woods in his manual jeep to go hunting, he tries to cut a tree branch with a knife, slips and cut from his thumbnail all the way up and thru his bicep! They wrap his arm up and get him in the Jeep and that is when he finds out the science teacher doesnt know how to drive a stick! Science teacher tore the poor guys jeep up trying to get him to the hospital.

True my friends are all millennials but 80’s babies so the gap in the generation itself is nuts. We are way more gen-x MTV nirvana than twitter (don’t have one neither do my close friends).

Driving a stick is not a big deal, the first was a 1963 Galaxy with 3 on the three, and many others since then including few 18 wheelers where double clutching is a requirement, but today I prefer a auto, especially in city traffic. Thats not to say I will not get another stick.

Learned how to drive in a '79 Mustang 4 spd. One of those Mustangs during that period when Ford gave them no teeth. I've owned 6 manuals and prefer to only drive a stick. Proudly I'm teaching my son how to drive my 2010 Tacoma. He's told me he's the only kid he knows who's learning how to drive a manual. It was a shame to hear him tell me that.

Can you imagine an up to date version of that game ?

You tweeted something that people deemed insensitive to groups that have been persecuted ... issue formal apology seek counseling and lose your turn.

Gonna tattle on myself for a bit, for the sake of humor and board unity, lol
    1) Age 10 or so, driving around with my aunt in her racy little Mustang, and I ask her "how do you know when to shift gears?" She goes into this long spiel about RPMs, tachometers, flywheels, etc, and I'm pretty sure my eyes glazed over and I fell into shadow (Tolkien-style). She might as well have been yelling at me in Latin.
    2) Age 12 or so, my beloved uncle needs me to drive the tractor while he's throwing hay bales up on the trailer we're towing behind it. After stalling the thing many times, he finally tells me, "look, just leave it in first gear. There is absolutely no need for you to do any shifting here. Don't touch the brake. Don't touch the clutch. Don't touch the gearshift. Just steer, and don't hit anything." We got it done, but that was the last time I drove the tractor until after my Army days many years later.
    3) Age 18 - I'm in basic training, when our platoon SGT calls for volunteers - "anybody here with a driver's license want to volunteer to help drive down at the motor pool?" (note: no mention of standard v. automatic transmissions at all). Thinking it's a good way to avoid some other unpleasant basic training tasks, I raise my hand. Me and a few platoon mates arrive at the motor pool, I get told to "jump up in that deuce-and-a-half and just follow us!", and yep, it's a GD stick shift. I'm sitting there for a few minutes trying to figure my next move, holding up the line, and a motorpool SGT comes over, looks at me in disgust, shakes his head, and calmly says "you don't know how to drive a manual, do you?" before bursting into laughter (something at that point in my enlistment I didn't expect from any NCO). Word eventually got back to my platoon and those two DSGTs gave me hell for all 9 weeks I was there. haha

Even years later, when I was very comfortable and skilled driving a manual, I'd sometimes think back on those days when stopped at a light on a hill or something.
