Can drive a manual in both LHD and RHD vehicles. I honestly prefer driving in RHD vehicles as it feels more natural with me being right handed and using my left hand to shift.

Driven manuals my entire life (I am 37).

However, I am starting to get pain in my left hip now, which i believe relates to clutch pedal usage.

Combine with the fact that manuals are going to disappear (there simply wont be gears in the EV dominate world), I don't think that I am as attached to MT as I used to be.

My dad had an old Scout 3sp and the day I turned 16 he hooked up to his boat and said, "I'm getting drunk and you're driving". I said I thought maybe he had that backwards.

I actually bought my first car in a manual before I even knew how to drive one. I didn't specifically look for a manual, it just happened to be a manual. It took me a weekend to have it down well, and basically a single short afternoon to be able to technically drive it out on the road. I didn't really think anything of it. It seemed pretty normal and easy to me. I proceeded to drive manuals for the next 15 years.

My girlfriend drove a manual for about the same amount of time as well. Her last vehicle was a Kia Sportage and it had the worst clutch action I've ever used. It was horrible. I really enjoy driving a stick, but I absolutely dreaded having to drive that thing.

Currently we both drive autos. She got a Mazda CX-5 which isn't available in a stick. It is an absolutely outstanding vehicle and getting the vehicle she wanted was more important than getting a stick.

Not really, somehow almost all of the 3rd world and the entire world before the 70s figured out how to do it. The Tacoma is one of the easiest sticks to drive that I've ever driven.

Your avatar is inflammatory for no reason, oh great master gatekeeper of the stick. Sorry if a millennial hurt you. I'll eat some avocado toast thinking of you.

I partially agree with you. I can't heel toe worth a shit. Driving a truck with a high/low gearbox, heel toe, or having to rev match without synchros is hard. Not rolling back on hills comes easy with experience though.

However... the new Taco prevents rollback on hills and has synchros, so driving a manual gen 3 Taco is trivial. This is a Tacoma forum, right? ;)

This has to be a trap.
This is a MT lover trap somehow.

I'm going to figure it out, dammit

The next question is, do you know how to speed shift without a clutch, and can you heel/toe to work all three pedals simultaneously and match engine speed?

My wife, then girlfriend, came with our 1985 Toyota MT 4x4 PU with oversized tires and lifted with lots of OR scrapes she put on it from driving in the Utah desert for work (she’s an archaeologist). I came with the Red Eddy Bower edition AT Bronco II. She had so much class, sometimes I wonder how we ever got married! She straightened me up pretty quickly!

And I didn’t chose to use it to piss anyone off, but the added bonus is worth it. And don’t come near the fucking manual transmission gate again. Figured if I have been named the gate keeper, I should flex some of that muscle, you know the one from shifting those gears baby!!
