I disagree, learning to drive a manual (e.g. a transmission with a clutch) is something every lad needs to know. How else are you going to drive the family Studebaker to Radio Shack to test vacuum tubes for the Zenith console?

ETA: And just to be clear, this is from a dyed-in-the-wool gear jamming, vinyl record spinning, tube amp listening curmudgeon of the highest order. But I know I'm just being unnecessarily difficult in resisting assimilation.

Right? My neighbors laugh at me for mowing the lawn with my push reel mower. They make jokes like, they make motors now for those things, and that kind of shit. Pussies. They'll never get it.

Gawd, I forgot. We have a push mower, too. A new one even, not some old piece of rusty junk. But that's not really being difficult but more being cheap. It takes me about 10 minutes to cut our tiny patches of weeds and it seems stupid to have a big ass gas mower and fuel just for that.

Just to complete the picture, I also telemark ski on 3-pin bindings, ride a mountain bike with one gear (no shifters!).

Guess it's my jam for real.

Back when my friends and I all drove race cars our buddy bought a 350Z nismo in automatic. We teased him so much in less than 2 weeks he traded it in for a manual he didn't know how to drive lol. But he did learn...after burning out the clutch lol.

Yeah, I have an A.T.A. Million Mile Safe Driving Plaque on my wall, all in 10-13 speed Trucks, so I'm GLAD that I don't have to row a shifter any longer on my daily driver. For a fun car, that's a different story, though...

Personally i do enjoy manuals but have two bad knees and a lot of customers clutches end up hurting my knee after a long test drive, that said honestly I'm lazy and would want a manuel as a second car, likely a sports car.

I’d love to have access to a MT so I could teach my son how to drive one.

Do you have somewhere that you can honestly DRIVE a sports car on an every day basis?

    Or is it like here.
"Got myself a lambo, Ferrari twin turbo Mercedes, supercharged Land Rover, excetera but it spends more time in the shop, costs me a fortune to maintain and I have gotten a couple of speeding tickets so I rarely drive it other than down Pacific Coat Hwy stuck in traffic". But I look cool!
