This forum likely isn't a good barometer for a real world percentage as it's an enthusiast forum. The polls result points to that also. lol

Metropolitan gridlock is wearing away at the user base of manual transmissions.

While they certainly can be more entertaining to drive, stop and go traffic can evaporate the fun quotient quite rapidly.

Also, while I have driven manual transmissions for years, I have a clutch leg injury that prevents me from driving one in traffic.

Just driving around I'm fine, but if I get in a situation where I'm constantly working the clutch my leg will swell up like a grapefruit (think turbocharged tennis elbow type inflammation).

While it used to be a fact that the MT would always perform better and get better MPG than the auto, today's modern automatics have turned that around and now get better MPG while providing faster performance (excepting the 3rd gen auto :anonymous:).

If I were going to buy a Mustang GT today I'd look no further than the 10 speed auto as it beats the 6 speed manual in every performance category.

Couldn’t get your point across in the other thread so you drum one up for a slam dunk on an enthusiast site. Nice.

Yep, but don't want to deal with MPG loss and sitting in traffic with one

I have some shots of me pretending to drive a manual on my Insta... just had to get a pic for the ladies. Also got a tattoo so they think I'm a race car driver.

Up until I bought my Tacoma last month, the only cars I ever owned were manual...

If my knees and shoulder didn’t bother me, I would have ordered a MT instead of the automatic..my first time driving was about 4 years old pulling a trailer full of hay in the field with a MT dually..

Shifting to 3rd gear while test driving a manual Tacoma pro, I thought I was going to lose my arm. The seating the position for me in the Tacoma is all off. I'm 6'1 34 inch inseam. I've never felt more awkward driving a vehicle.

IRL, I doubt 95% of drivers in the US even know what a manual trans even is, much less how to drive one. lol

This poll is likely to result in the INVERSE of the actual stat of 2% 2018 vehicles. I guess TacomaWorld is like the Upside Down in Stranger Things.

Also when I think about actual MT drivers I see in real life its mostly a kid with gauged ears in a WRX delivering my pizza.

I believe individuals with more calendar experience (aka older) are more likley to be MT savvy. Both the wife and I grew up with MT’s. Only one of my 5 kids can drive a manual (the only boy... who just had to have a RX-8 as a kid).

I have driven gen2 MT’s but not a gen3. I would have had a difficult time ordering a vehicle and not driving it first.
I do miss my 2000 MT extra cab..

I had a little long travel ranger with a manual trans once. Just bought it and taught myself how to drive manual by driving it home. It was fun for offroading, but a royal pain in the ass for a daily driver. I could never answer a phone call because I didn't have enough hands

Love me a manual. About the only thing I don't prefer a manual trans for is towing. So I'll rock an auto 3/4-1ton truck but a manual trans Tacoma or manual trans car is just so much more fun and enjoyable for me to drive. No computer telling me when I'm supposed to be in a different gear, can foresee necessary shifts when in traffic or hilly roads. Just overall prefer it.

Learned to drive a manual trans when I was 6 with my grandfather in his 42 Chevy Coupe with a 3 on the tree. When I got a little older he taught me how to drive our old "yard dog" B Series Mack with a Quad Box. Talk about confusing the hell out of a someone! I never did master the twin sticks but I've loved the feeling of rowing my own gears ever since.

My buddy was working on an old dump truck a few days ago. It was a 12sp (I think) manual with no power steering and no passenger seat. The steering wheel was the size of a trash can lid. I asked if I could drive and he let me. You had to rev the shit out of it to shift and if you didn't shift fast enough you had to start all over. I made it about 3 or 4 blocks and that was all I wanted.
