A manual forces you to become acutely aware of your machine, and your physical environment, and time.

An automatic robs the human mind and spirit of this window into another dimension of wisdom. And instead turns you into a blitheringly retarded spectator.

I know how in that I've driven a manual before, but it was ages ago, and I couldn't comfortably drive one today. It shouldn't be that hard to understand.

too much flexing.. We had the starter button on the floor. Try to crank and give a gas with right foot.
..and high beam switch by clutch pedal..

Driving modern MT is piss boring.
non-synchro's were fun to drive. Double clutch, rev matching on downshifts..

Most don't drive manuals because it's hella hard to Tweet while rowing.

Still have my 98 Wrangler with a stick. Most of my vehicles over the years have had a stick.

    A little off-topic here, but...

I wonder when (or if) motorcycles with get automatic trannnies?
That is, assuming the gubbermint doesn't ban them first.
For our own good of course.

Yeah Honda tried once (it was a 750cc IIRC), back in the day.
    It was not a success.
But I should think there would be a market for them.
You know, for the not-so-manly types. :p

No doubt the motor cycle guys here are well aware that you don't actually have to use the clutch very often if not so inclined.
Throttle control to unload the geardogs, shift and match revs. Works okay with most cruiser bikes anyway.
Takes some practice and is easier/smoother on the upshift.
Gotta use the clutch from a standing start though.

I spend a lot of time driving and I believe that it’s easier to slip into bad driving habits when you don’t have to pay as much (any) attention to shifting. Just my .02.

It should be standard (gee why does that sound familiar). If it were, half the retrds would be off the road, and the other half could resume enjoying driving manuals, in a beautiful ballet of mutual understanding and cooperation. And then world peace would break out.

Oh I forgot this was a third gen thread and will get locked if someone suggests a poster should read the user manual.

So far I've had 12 manual shift cars, all sports cars.

Now by choice, I have none. If something happens to my taco and I have to get another one, I would give a decent thought at getting an MT next time around though. Paying extra for the AT is slightly regrettable.

I like how you cut out the part where I explained what I meant, and that I drove my friends manual car. Clever.
