I'm now at 5k miles in four months + 1 day, and I don't have any major complaints.

After OV tune and 4.88 gears, it runs real smooth and powerful.

I bought it for its off road capabilities, and with 2.5 Kings and 33" skinnies, it doesn't disappoint. There are vehicles with more comfortable seats, but after installing seat risers in the rear, now I can sit all day long in it and not get tired. (If I were any taller it would become a problem though)

I like the storage capacity for longer off road trips. In my JK I had to be extremely organized to fit stuff in. In the Taco, I don't need to be organized (hehe... huge plus), and I can fit a whole lot more stuff.

    That's because 4runners are built in Japan,unlike Tacoma's.

You should notice better MPG's over the old 2nd Gens, 1 or 2 better is common. The Clutch Start Cancel Switch is designed to get you out of a sticky situation, allows you to put it in gear and ride the starter out.

5K miles in 4 months, 2019 OR MT DCSB:
MPG lower than I expected (18)
    Standard radio is fine
    Truck is tight
    Suspension is good
Not crazy about the MT. I find that I need to rev it up too much for a smooth take off. Once in motion OK.
    Looks good.
    Poor power/torque at low RPM's.
Truck lurches sometimes at low speed.
I know about the OV and ADM but not convinced yet....nor should they be needed on a >$34K vehicle.
    I like the OEM tires.
The truck is nimble and easy to park.
    Prolly rate it 8.5/10.

The Tacoma may not be perfect but it is a truck truck truck don’t expect it to be a car it is not. But it is a very refined truck and will serve you well, not a CADILLAC but a very capable TRUCK. WILL GO ANYEHERE ANYTIME GOOD GAS MILEAGE GREAT RESALE VALUE QUIT PICKING AND ENJOY
    I LOVE THIS THING.

I thought nothing big really changed for the 2019 according to Toyota. Small cosmetic tweaks don't count. Toyota even tried to justify keeping the drum brakes to keep the price down.
I'm still loving my 2011, and after all the hate for the newer models I have no idea what I would get next if it died.

Bought my 2019 trd sport 4x4 mt July 21 as daily commuter 70/30 hwy/local .
    First taco , drove a v8 1500 Avalanche for the last 17 yrs .
Loved the utility of that Chevy . I no longer need a full size truck ,
but none of the midsize auto trucks including the taco were adequately
responsive with all around performance during my test drives ,
that is until I drove my mt taco . The pairing of the mt with the 4.30
rear is very nice , plenty of pull in any gear within its reasonable power band .
I'm averaging 21.5 mpg with my type of use . I don't plan on any off roading
and the on road articulation driving of the sport suits me fine .
I trust I'll be able to navigate local roads in the snow just fine with The 4x4
So far it's a very enjoyable ride each and every time , even in some traffic .

Somewhere along the line people began expecting their trucks to drive like cars. I like my 2019 because it still feels like a truck, although it’s more car-like than my 2006. I hope Toyota keeps them a little rough around the edges.

I bought mine in Feb. 2019. There was several things I didn't like so I changed them. Didn't like the factory Sport rims and tires, so I did a dealer swap for 4Runner Pro. Didn't like the seats so I got Katzkins leather. Stereo didn't have enough bass so got a Cerwin Vega amp/sub combo. Didn't like the chin strap, so I took it off. Easy stuff to remedy. It can tow twice as much as my Jeep JKU & can haul as many people. It definitely rides better. I don't have to use a trailer every time I go to the lumber store. It doesn't matter if I throw some fish, dirt, or gravel in the bed of the truck where I wouldn't think about doing that in the Jeep. It's just a better fit for me. BTW, I have had multiple full size trucks in the past. I just don't need a 2500HD to pull huge trailers anymore. The Tacoma is an all-around good buy. I'm happy with it. Why have a vehicle you don't like.

Wait, did someone just smack the Tacoma about not having a modern drivetrain and in the same sentence praise the 4Runner?

    This place fucking kills me.

Before panties get wedged up asses - we have a 2018 4runner. You can't sell me on any of this magical made in Japan of unicorn tears and elf pubes bullshit...... it has it's issues...oh, and my wheelbarrow has about the same level of refinement.

It is many things- and I appreciate the 4runner for the things that it is. Refined is not one of them. It actually has the dubious distinction of making the Tacoma look refined....and that's quite the feat.

I love the truck the styling the ride height the way the windshield sits it almost feels like a chop top compared to my civics massive windshield.

The truck seems to vibrate when I brake sometimes but I think its the small ripples in the blacktop causing this. The roads in NC aren’t great and flat - I think some freeze and thaw puts small ripples in the pavement and when you brake on it it sends small vibrations back to the driver.

The bluetooth skipping has my suicidal.

Other than that I love it.

Heading out to Big Sky and Cali from Durham NC next Friday then to LA for Halloween.

    That can't be!

According to TW, everything made in Japan is comprised of unicorn dust and elf pubes.

    Magical.

Back to reality: our 2018 4runner is slow and unrefined. The front suspension squeaks. The rear diff has a faint howl. It eats fog light bulbs like tic tacs. The sunroof leaked. The rear wiper has had to be fixed twice.

    But the wife loves it.

You’d better watch yourself with all that positive feedback on the Taco. This is TW. They’ll run your ass out of here and string you up for that kind of shit...

Got my 2019 DCSB SR 4x4 in August, and I love it.
Is it perfect? No, but better that anything else out there, I still have my 98 T100 as well 365K and still going....
Sure it is easy to want perfection in a truck that costs what they do now, but nothing is perfect.

We have divested our household of all GM products and are simply a Toyota one now, 98 T100, 2018 RAV4 and 2019 Tacoma and am much happier for it. :)

Great call on the manual. With the access cab with sunroof combo you were looking for a configuration that doesn't exist. Hope you enjoy your new truck.
