Im also a first timer Toyota and im loving my 19 Tacoma so far. I was gonna get a 2020 but the price is night/day difference compare to 19 with only minimal changes especially carplay/android auto. Also, I was gonna get a MT but my dealer dont have one on the lot and they said that it might a while(like a while)before they can get MT so i got AT instead since i really need a new one. What i dont like is the knob for lumbar support(i think), i mean i have to turn it so much and all the way just to feel that lumbar support lol

I stuffed 1/2-inch worth of washers under the driver seat rail rear anchors. It helped my leg some, but my head now sits uncomfortably close to the roof. The issue it appears is that the seat sits too close to the floor, the seat itself offers very little support, and the positioning of the seat relative to the steering wheel is odd.

I had the same problem, that’s why spacing the FRONT of the seat is better (which you can’t do with washers). You should check them out! https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...the-seat-3rd-gen.607482/page-21#post-21798950

Manuals are harder to find due to the 5% production rate and that they do them on cycles but worth the extra work and wait in my opinion. But at the end of the day if you need a vehicle you need a vehicle and hopefully it's not something that will result in buyer remorse down the road.

I love my 2019 TRD OR, seating is awkward it really is at 6'4 230 but I love it so much I do not care. I will say Tundra TRD Pro is next as of now. I actually enjoy driving it and drive the hell out of it. Trans is different but not enough for me to regret my purchase and start a thread about my tears.

I’m going to beat a dead horse and suggest you get *front* seat spacers from @EasyDoesIt... lol. Really helps us taller guys. Apparently shorter guys too but I can’t speak for them

    Also.... OVTune :deadhorse:

It's in every owners manual that they recommend 89 octane, my 2016 Express said the same thing.

I cannot for the life of me visualize how raising the back of the seat makes it more comfortable. Seems like it would do the opposite. Do you raise the back of your Lazy Boy to make it more comfortable? If you look you'll see that all recliners are lower in the back. I raised the front of my seat and it made a world of difference, just like I thought it would.

If you're tall and got chunky legs it feels like the front edge of the seat bottom is cutting off your circulation. I seriously can't drive my truck with my wallet in my back pocket, it drives me nuts.

I'm not tall but I have to have my upper legs supported by the seat to be comfortable. The front spacers accomplish that. Never had a problem with circulation being cut off but can understand doing whatever is necessary to prevent that from happening. the last Taco I owned, a 1999, was the absolute worst when it came to comfort. I traded it in because of this. Never thought to raise the front of the seat and probably wouldn't have on the 2019 either if I hadn't found desertdoesit's fine brackets here. They go me to thinking about what the problem might be and I came to the conclusion that the front of the seat was too low relative to my ass. That was the problem with the 99 also but it was much much worst. Raising the front of the seat worked wonders for me.

I drive for a living and my tractor trailer seat bottom can extend forward to fully support my legs and has 3 height adjustments for the back of the seat bottom. I keep it exactly like you said, with the front higher, and it's really comfortable for me. I can live with my Tacoma even on long trips, just wish it extended out more. They say the power seats in the 2020's offer better seating positions.

I run 87 most of the time, as is acceptable according to my owners manual. No issues, knock free, and 21mpg average on my last 900 mile road trip. Not bad considering I had the bed loaded down with a dirt bike, my winter tires, six 5 gal cans of gas for the plane, a large Plano box with all of my toad trip gear, two dogs and myself. It also the Outdoorsman package (might be a canada only thing), which has 20 inch wheels, larger gas tank, and heavier duty suspension. Had the cruise set at 12 above the 110km/h speed limit, so I’m pretty happy with that mileage.

Anyways, you’re correct that 89 is recommended for ‘optimal’ performance, but 87 is perfectly acceptable for use in the 5.7. The 6.4, not so much.

I also had a Pulsar in line tuner installed along with an exhaust and intake lol. I had to run higher octane to get any real benefit from the tuner. I switched jobs and have to drive farther for work so I traded down to the Tacoma. I figured I wouldn't be tempted to mess with a 4 cylinder too much...haha!

    All-factory options at this point.
Have the 2019 TRD Sport for 12 weeks now. No regrets whatsoever. The best handling truck (onroad) I ever had was my 2001 Tundra, but this is damn close. The short box Tacoma is a breeze to park. A joy to drive onroad. It'll be in 4x4 most of this winter here in Minnesota. Has just about every option available in Sport (don't need the nice Off Road 4x4 crawl control, this baby's going to be pampered unlike most of my trucks). Just wish they'd had the adjustable power seats like the 2020's have.
