Got 42K on my 2012 and never an issue with it, still on the original brakepads! Like all my previous pickups I expect about 10-12 years from this one (rust killed all the previous PU's). Maybe I'll get a few more years from this one now that I'm no longer living in "the rust belt". Only regrets is the automatic transmission. with the 4 banger engine it sucks to tow with. I got the auto instead of the 5-manual so my wife could drive it. She has driven it once.....

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to try to at minimum keep the truck for 10 more years. It probably won't be worth much by then and will make some high school kid really happy.

I just bought a 2015 on Friday. Sold my 2007. I'd been wanting a new one, but I don't want the first year of the new generation. For that matter I think I'd prefer not to have even the second year of it.

Figure I'm gonna drive my truck into it's own grave, however many years down the road that is. Besides, why spend money on a new truck when I can spend money or more MODS! haha.
    95k and still going strong.

I'll be keeping mine until the frame rots out from under it!

*So... like 2023. It'll still be the 3rd gen by then, though.

I'll always keep my Tacoma but I will get another truck in a year or so. Might see what the new Craptors (Raptor) have to offer with them going to the twin turbo v6 ecoboost engines.

Keeping my 2nd gen? Heck I just bought another one. I plan to keep it for at least 5 years...probably longer.

As far as I'm concerned, a good truck gets more cool with age. Buying a new one just delays that inevitable awesomeness.

Hell, I'd still be driving my '72 International Scout if it hadn't broke down every month. So, obviously, there's a limit to this aged coolness.

    Like you, I went from a (2005) DC (Off-Road):

    To a (2013) AC Off-Road:

But with no Jeep in between...

Just curious as to why you did...
I plan on keeping this one.

i was talking with my manager while we were on the road. we were talking about how cars are getting so sophisticated. I told him "At this rate, my kids (don't even have kids) wont even know what the hell a stick shift is."
he respond "Sure they will, you'll still have this truck!"

I bought this truck brand new because I plan on keeping forever.

    Stock for now...
Already been told by the wife I'm getting buried in the Land Cruiser - I told her to give it to our daughter who can pass it to her kids when they can drive responsibly , yes it will run that long . The Taco , I don't think so honestly . In a way , I'd prefer a newer one just to get away from an older version but at least with the '08 all the repairs ever needed are documented here without having to deal with the stealerships . The whole issue boils down to the springs and frame rust - that really turns me off but there is no pickup built now that doesn't rust like crazy and that's a real disappointment .

The Cruiser has rusted pretty bad , that's no secret but it's built simply enough I can fix the body easily and the drivetrain can easily go 50yrs if you take care of it . I'm just disgusted with having a 38yr old truck that makes the newer one look pathetic in every way - maybe I'm better off losing the Taco and finding a left hand drive Hilux instead . It will cost a lot more and parts are harder to source , but they are much more like a Land Cruiser in build quality . Actually , a 75 series Cruiser trayback would be the best choice overall ....But holy hang onto your wallet - check out the prices for a used one !

I'll be sticking with my 13'. I have about 33k on it already, and haven't had any issues. Plus it's paid off. I might as well run it into the ground.

Traded in my 2013 AC TRD Sport for a 2015 DC TRD Sport 4x4 back in November and have no plans on getting rid of it. Its gonna be my "dad mobile" and is perfect. I like knowing that I have a truck with a proven 10 year history.

Just got mine, maybe when the oldest kiddo grows up and I do not need 4 door anymore.. Other than that - it is Toyota, that is why we choose it over other makes which gently push you to get the latest with "quality problems solved", year after year..
