So you push your 1st gen offroad - what cracks next?

Could be the photo, but looks like the UCA bolts isn't tightened all the way down onto the UCA arm?

Need to do some more welding on my coilbuckets and finally build a cross brace.

OEM weld terminus. A lot like the cracks found on the LCA tabs.

 

I'm still sold on the crossbrace being a better solution, I just need to get to that project before catastrophic failure.

 

Just saying..can't hurt at this point. Plus you know who has the hook up on those @Reh5108

 

Not sure how well I could get them to work with the TC gussets, but I could try.

Anyways, drivers side was worse. Welded them all up and will keep an eye out.

 

May have smacked some boulders a little to hard. I'm guessing this is part of the core support. How do you guys fix cracks, just stop drill holes at the end and run a bead up the crack?

I figure I will just let the core support go until I need to make one out of tube.

 

Just looks like the normal fatigue cracks starting in your core support.

You can try stop drilling and welding those up, but you'll be chasing them forever at this point.

 

Just a short, 16" crack in the bed...



Used some angle and the original flange as a force spreader; should hold up well I think.

 

Woahhhhhh. Would bed channel stiffeners help to mitigate this? I know its the other end of the bed but may add more stability?

 

It may help to slow it down but I doubt it would prevent it altogether. Mine's starting to split in the same spot and I have the bed reinforcements for the tailgate area.

 

Pretty sure you could install manufactured bed stiffeners on the other end. I made my own and they're the same triangle design I used by the tail gate.

 

Don't know of anyone that makes a product for that end of the bed. I think making your own is the only way to go for that side.

The bed starts to split up there when you rack up some offroad miles with something mounted to the bed rails. I.e. RTT rack/topper

 

Flatbed and be done with it.
It'll help hold the frame together too.
