500 acres at your fingertips! We will be starting up Basecamp Friday 08/13 at 8 AM at Holcomb Valley Ranch, 10 minutes from the iconic Big Bear Lake. Once checked-in at the gate, you'll be directed to where you may set up. Note that 4x4 is not required to access basecamp. Some activities available in and around basecamp:

• This venue offers on-site facilities! Water, showers, and toilets all available for our guests.
• Hiking and biking on property. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails minutes away as well!
• Fishing and water activities only minutes away! Big Bear Lake offers a ton of water activities for you and the family.

• Off-road 4X4 trails. Big Bear is home to a ton of off-road trails. After you register, we will provide you via email confirmation a list of trails we recommend along with their difficulty rating.
• 4X4 Workshop will be available to add on to your purchase and will be held on Saturday 08/14 from 9 AM-11 AM.

• Live performances and music! DJ and music at the pavilion! The pavilion will be the epicenter of Basecamp. Come by for tunes by DJ @Wekfest_junior and DJ Erok throughout the weekend including during meal times, activities, announcements, and the huge raffle Saturday night!
• RAFFLE TIME! We have a TON of things to raffle off for our guests! Please see list of sponsors below to get an idea of of what prizes to win. Raffle tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite or in person.
• The Great Frontier Cook Off returns for another tasty challenge for our guests! Groups of up to 3 have the ability to test their culinary skills in this showdown!
• Camp out! You have the ability to camp further away from the group if you prefer a bit more peace and privacy while still having the option to pop-in to the pavilion area to see what's going on.
• Respect basecamp! Pack-in, pack-out waste policy. Keep your areas clean and tidy. No open fires; only propane fires and grills for cooking can be on the property.

What does the 4x4 workshop consist of? I’m interested in learning more about off-roading still kinda new to it.

 

The previous events hosted different guided trail runs based off of experience level and included a day and night time session where they went over different techniques such as vehicle recovery and maneuvering through obstacles.

As an avid life long off-roader, I was interested in this Big Bear off-road trip but took a look at the videos and 90% of the videos were just dudes getting drunk. Maybe its just the crew I roll with at Johnson Valley, Glamis, and Ocotillo but drinking is only done at night when the off-roading is done. Sure we enjoy beers throughout the day at pitstops, but these dudes in the videos taking shots in the morning kinda show its not really about off-roading though? The little bit of off-roading there was in the videos, was just slow-paced technical rock trails.

Think I'll pass on this one as I prefer higher speed runs in open desert. But if you guys ever decide to do something out in the desert during desert season (October - April), I'm all ears! Glamis is my favorite especially since I have off-road toys. Sand is soft and forgiving on the truck components but not for the inexperienced wheelers who like to drink and drive though since faster paced stuff requires full attention otherwise you'll break shit.
