    @Jerez

On my '06 the green headlight indicator comes on with the park lights and with the headlights. What would be the feasibility of rewiring the indicator to only come on with the headlights? If I have this done, I would have it done at the same time as the LED swap. I realize that it may mean an extra wire coming off the cluster that I would have to connect into the headlight circuit. If there's an extra unused terminal in the connector, that would be really sweet.

Never heard of this...Did you get your truck used?
Do the headlights stay on all day when driving?

Honestly I haven’t looked that far into the wiring for the headlights

My truck came from Canada. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. The headlight switch works like normal. Off/park/headlights. The green indicator is at the bottom left of the tach. It turns on when the park lights or headlights are turned on.

Edit: The truck was converted to MPH with a US instrument cluster before I got it. Or maybe they just changed the speedo.

Another edit: The plot thickens. If you look at the schematic for the combination meter, on page 4, the LED for US says "head" and for Canada, it says "tail". Above the LED, in the schematic, there is a switch that flipping it 1 way will tie the LED into the headlight circuit and flipping it the other way will tie the LED into the tail light circuit. Is this just a switch or jumper on the circuit board?

OK, so now things are starting to make sense, but also getting a little more confusing. I found this pic of the dash indicators. I have the "tail light indicator" as shown below. But....... I have a speedo with the large MPH numbers. So, how did they get a US instrument cluster face, with a Canadian "tail light indicator"? I don't really care. It's just strange. So, I'm gonna guess that the "switch" mentioned in my previous post is really a soldered jumper. I don't really care what the picture looks like. I just want it to only light up with headlights.

OK, so maybe they just cut out the speedometer part and put a US speedometer face in there. That would save them from having to pull off all the other gauge needles. I still would like the "tail light indicator" to only light up when the headlights are on. The next time you have a circuit board in your hands, can you look for that switch or jumper that feeds the indicator?

    I can check yea
But the other thing is that they would have had to change the whole cluster to read the correct mileage too on your odometer or else it’s been reading it wrong too

They did somehow change the odometer to read miles. Also, I got a printout of the dealer performed recalls that were done last year and the kilometer readings at the time of the last service, correspond roughly with the correct amount of miles that should have been on it when I bought it. So, they did the math on the conversion and programmed the odometer.

Interesting never heard of this before...

Does the light being on bug you that much? Lol just wondering

I know us Honda vehicles are like that too. Shows the same indicator for when parking lights are only on

It kinda bugs me. If I'm gonna have an indicator that tells me the lights are on, I would prefer that it tell me the HEADlights are on. Just figured it might be a simple fix when swapping out the LEDs to a different color.

Not sure if this has been answered on here yet, but what temperate do you have your soldering iron at while removing the leds and applying them? Want to make sure I don't fry them.

i dont go crazy with the temp...but im around 400-500 max but not all the time. only when the led is hard to remove.

repainting them and changing out the leds behind them.
remove the needles and remove the paint with nail polish remover...just be careful not to leave it on there for too long because ive seen people melt the plastic lol
