Jason replaced my needle bearing and CV shaft yesterday. He was understanding I might arrive late to my appointment due to traffic and rain. I made it with a few minutes to spare but it was peace of mind knowing I wouldn't have to reschedule. Thanks Jason, everything is working good with the repair.

I brought my bike and took a ride into downtown Vista. I was moved by Ernie’s letters at the Veteran’s Memorial Park. He was a local kid killed in action in Vietnam and some of the letters between him and his family are engraved in plaques leading up to a sculpture of his likeness. The final letters are heart wrenching to read, especially the one from his buddy who witnessed Ernie’s demise. Then, a letter from the buddy’s sister explaining the buddy’s demise as well.

Are those the x-bull traction boards? If yes, did you use the mounting hardware they supplied? How do you like them and how is the wind noise/MPG since they don't stack very well.

Thanks buddy, let me know if you ever need anything!

Just replied, sorry about that I haven't been on TW enough lately since most people end up finding my number and texting me. I hit you back in the PMs, if you still need this done I put my cell# in that message.

    Pm'ed!

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, those are X-bulls. Unfortunately the mounting HW did not fit well with my RCI roofrack. I just bought 1/4-20-5 1/2 inch carriage bolts and star knobs on Amazon. I kept the plastic spacers in the original mounting kit and threaded the bolts through the front most and rear most holes on the X-bulls. I haven’t gotten to use the boards yet but so far they seem like a nobrainer compared to maxtrax. Not too worried about drops in MPG since I’m only going to mount them when going offroad. I hope this helps!

Not sure if you got a hold of me and I already did that since I've done a bunch of re-routes and CMCs in the last month, if I didn't and you still need it let me know and I will make sure it gets done properly.

Did I respond to the PM? I have not been online much in the past few months, but I check and respond periodically to my PMs.

If you haven't gotten a response for any reason just shoot me a text at (760)560-7779 and I will get you taken care of, I work almost every day so I'm definitely still working on a LOT of Tacomas...

Sure thing Jason. By the way - the noise is back! I think it is coming from the bolts that secure the skid plate and the cat shield to the frame. I need to check them this weekend. No where near as bad as the other one and a lot less consistent.

Oh jeez, yeah those things can rattle if they aren't super tight..another little trick is to put a little sealant or gasket maker on all the contact points as well for a little extra damping by adding some rubber-like material in-between.

Yes that is what I was going to try. The cat shield came with some machined aluminum spacers and if my memory is right they weren't machined great. I was going to inspect those and potentially replace them. Again it is intermittent. I can go for days without hearing it and then one morning backing out of the driveway I get the clunk! as if it was building up.
