yea, their builds are uh, specific. there's a clientele, sure...make that dollar.
I don't understand the need for making a 15 second splash on Instagram with your new "ultimate" rig.

Some people seem to forget that form should FOLLOW function. Then they build rigs that mimic rigs that are actually capable to look like them, forgetting that those look a certain way so they can perform a certain way. Then they build their rigs to look like they can perform, but don't actually do anything! Ridiculous!

Sorry, I'm probably preaching to choir here...

this type of thing happens with every hobby. some people just have more money than others and want to have fun with it.

in music, you have guys playing $10k of gear in their bedrooms at night when only the rats in the attic are listening. in hockey, you have guys all kitted out in pro stock gear just so that random family in the food court can watch them whiff on a one timer. at the range, you have guys getting out of their trucks looking like they're about to board a chopper on a spec ops mission.

    you get the idea.

Its true that you get this kind of thing in every hobby, but it still feels like a waste regardless of the hobby. At least in the examples you provided those people are using the gear they bought for the intended purpose, even if it is overkill, lol

    Whole lotta stuff
Yeah, but you'll always get people like that. Even if they never beat on their equipment as much as the manufacturer builds it/expects them to, they like having the confidence it gives them knowing that they always could. Some people just have high taste as well, want nothing but the best, and like having nice things just to have them. It it a waste? I'll agree probably is. But it's something that will probably never change. I see so much of it on instagram, crazy built rigs in configurations that make entirely no sense at all. But occasionally you'll see the rig that someone built out of necessity for that level of performance and it's cool.

That being said I have a lot of money in my truck and I'm not even done, but I plan on keeping this truck 20yrs so I've bought parts for longevity in performance and long term reliability.
