same here. my bedrack comes off with 4 simple bolts into the bedrails, but i'd like to see them try to lift the bedrack (~100lbs) the tepui (~another 100lbs) and my spare thats mounted under the tent and rack lol

Still saving 20 bucks and with the hundred nuts included you could offset the cost by splitting it. I don't keep my tent on all the time but I would like that security for when it is there. :boink:

I knew a guy who said the same thing about a $150 lock for his 70k sandrail, instead he used some cheap ass bike lock. Always said people were stupid for paying that much for a big odd shaped chain, until one day his $70,000 dollar toy was gone, right out of his driveway.

As for the nuts, those will work, but if you are overly concerned when I was looking for mine I found a company that does custom nuts and sockets so that there is no way thieves will have the socket to remove them. Starting at 300 though, that was a bit much.

60 is insane in the fact that I posted the same hardware for a third of the price for a pack of 100. For the sand rail, I think that is justifiable to spend that much for a lock. I wouldn't put a bike lock on that thing if I had it. The markups these tent companies are applying is what bothers me. 300 for one-off hardware is a bit much for a tent that costs only 3 timea as much.

I've got a Baja designs light bar that I'm planning on mounting with some spanner head screws(with the two pin holes) and once I have the bar in place I'm going to throw some jb weld in the holes. That way the only way to get them out would require drilling out the kb weld, on top of the already tamper resistant hardware.

I'm with you, mcmaster has thousands of my American pesos, but if I recall the hardware on the tents is metric, and the only metric nuts they have are sloped nuts, which are just stamped sheet metal and have been known to come undone on their own. Until we fully get on the metric band wagon specialty items like this will demand a premium. It is getting better though.
