    My thought as well.

    He works for a private agency. Armed response or not, the CVC does not allow "running code" in a private vehicle.
    Private vehicles are also not allowed to have blue and red emergency lights... Amber is okay as long as they are only used when the vehicle is parked.
    I work for a city and my truck has "E" plates and even I can not use my amber beacons when in motion unless the entire lane is closed off.

    That's not to say that the "brass pass" won't let an off duty cop get away with things that a private citizen can't.

    He's also somewhat misleading on "permits" for an AR or shotgun mount.
    PC626.9 does not apply to long guns.
    PC12025 does not apply to long guns.
    Federal law requires that all guns be in a locked container or in a locked rack when within 1000ft of a K-12 school unless the carrier has a CCW.
    PC12031 prohibits anyone not in possession of a CCW from carrying ANY weapon loaded (in incorporated areas or unincorporated county areas where shooting is prohibited, this would include roadways). There are exemptions for private security guards with a valid BSIS "guard card" when ON THE JOB, but there are no exceptions for loaded carry when not actually on the job. They can open carry on the way to or from the job, but it must still be unloaded.

    So when he's on his way to or from a call, he can open carry a handgun or long gun unloaded.
    When AT the location of the call, he can carry loaded.
    Any other time, his handgun must be unloaded and locked in a secure, locking container other than his glove box or utility compartment, and his long gun must be unloaded, and when within 1000ft of a K-12 school, must be locked in a secure, locking container OR be retained in a locking gun rack.


    And there's a reason that real cops are required to run lights and siren when exceeding the speed limit.
    There is a reason that fire and ambulances generally maintain no more than 35mph.

    I can get photos of three destroyed Crown Victorias that illustrate those reasons.

    The guy I saw on the freeway? Whether he was an off-duty cop, on-duty cop driving a "plain wrap", or a rent-a-cop... he was solidly in violation of multiple CVC sections including exceeding the posted maximum, exceeding the state maximum, driving too fast for conditions, and unsafe lane changes.

    spotted a gray doublecab in the parking lot by taco nazo on grand and azusa had what i think were the black kmc xd monster wheels and a tacoma world sticker on the back. didnt get a good look cause it was dark. it was around 8 oclock last night
