Oddly I had to do that on my old yz as well, but had help from the head mechanic at the shop I worked at haha.

I decided that after close to 200hrs, it might be time haha. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well everything looked, only a few dogs were really worn badly.

We should plan a ride day at a track somewhere for all the socal moto / TW people ! Would be a good time

I am planning on it, my lifelong buddy made his pro debut today and I sadly couldn't make it to Hangtown.
Kai Aiello (310); Consistent run of 31-31 for 31st OA in the 250’s.:muscleflexing: Not bad for his first race with the big boys, and the 2nd moto conditions.

Another friend Mitchel Falk (123) crashed hard moto 1 today though :(

I have the IKON base pass for snowboarding. I think that allows for a discount on day &/or season bike park passes. I'd like to hit up Snow Summit for their bike park at least once this season. More so, I'd like to see if I can hit up Mammoth for both snowboarding and mtb on the same trip, same day, same resort. In 2017, when I was more of a newb on doing both, I got to try snowboarding in the morning, then mountain biking in the afternoon, at the same resort on the same day for a couple of days during the week/weekend of Fourth of July. It was such a cool time. I think their winter operations continued on till the end of August or September that year.

This quarantine is really sucking haha I definitely need to get out and ride the old dirt scooter!

Anyone know of any trails local to north county San Diego? The desert is too hot to go ride.

The best spot IMO is Pine Valley off the I8 its not exactly North County but has some really nice technical trials and can ride all day with tons of trails. Id be tempted to lead a rid out there if anybody wants to go. :bikewheelie2:

I got a YFZ450 (quad) and am looking or local tracks that allow quads. Anyone got insights? Cahuilla Creek used to let us rip the veteran track and we definitely surprised some of the bike riders.

Not many, they tend to blow out the corner ruts for the bikes. Some tracks have allocated days for quads, not sure which ones though.

Sweet, I just gotta swap out my rear tube back to a Tubliss or a bib and I'm ready, the KX450 has a cracked piston again..but I also have a few other bikes as well, haven't taken my AF500 out for a while...might be good for PV. Chugs like a 4 stroke.

Yeah totally understand us clearing the ruts on corners where bikes NEED to use ruts to turn. The jumps and table tops I can easily clear but when it comes to turns, us 4 wheeler dudes hang off the side to slide and literally destroy the ruts for the bike guys, so I sympathize the malice towards us.

No malice, just different machines that use different lines, like you said we moto guys need those ruts to get our corner speed to make some of the jumps that they put right after the corner. If that rut wasnt there we can use the berm and rail it too but then we dont have multiple lines for passing, etc..

I've ruined the dogs on my YZ295 3 times, sucked tearing it down and replacing $350 worth of gears, not to mention gaskets, and top end or rings as well. Was always 5th gear for me, did it twice on my CRF450 that one was 4th gear. I apparently shift like an asshole...

Heard of using the clutch while shifting at wide open throttle ?
Could also be that the 295cc is harder on the gears than my 125 haha.

You still ride tracks around socal ?

Well I do actually use the clutch when shifting most of the time, my main problem is when Im trying to shift too fast I sometimes dont get it fully engaged and once you round the dog its fawked after that and gets worse in a hurry. When I'm racing a lot I do 30 events a year so I put a ton of hours on my bikes. Good thing I know how to do all my own work or I'd be screwed..
And yeah the 295 has a lot more torque than when it was a 250, but the gear failures were 100% my fault.
Hopefully my Husky TX300 will hold up better, but time will tell, Ive only put 35 hours on it, so Im ready to do a top end anyway.
And I dont ride track much, I prefer off-road stuff and technical trails and exploring more than I do track riding anymore, but I still go every once in a while just for repetitive practice.

Hi, riders. Found these trails off of 2N10 near Snow Summit at Big Bear Lake, CA last weekend during a stay by that area on Labor Day weekend. Anyone know what trails are accessible to the public up there without having to pay for chair lift tickets or trespassing on Snow Summit’s property?
