if theres 8-12" its still fun and youd be fine with chains. last year the snow was 2' deep in some areas so yes it was hell. but still a blast and id do it again in a heartbeat...

Bensweather.com is our local weather site since weather.com sucks ass for big bear. Ill update you guys with snow conditions since i just look out my window for the latest weather here :D

i will update with depths since i like to go up there alot. im always up in the mountains so ill keep yall posted on how deep/gnarly it is.

Looks like fun fellas. A bit of info though, chances are that there will be snow by then and most of the roads to the campgrounds will be covered. I ran the road to Holcomb valley and almost got stuck. There was about 6-7" of snow on the ground and I had chains on the front and rear and I am fully locked. A word of advise, might not be a good idea if you are a prerunner.

Maybe we should reconsider location since there are so many pre runners.
Any body know if Mt. Laguna has trails and camp sites?

The easiest cheapest was to get chains is to get the old fashioned ones. Usually come in a canvas bag. They are the toughest and are repairable. the diamond shaped ones are good on the road but the straight chains are better for offroad and almost as good on the road.

good idea! something as simple as a piece of angle that can mount in the rails. the bed rail system would probably make a more solid mount but might be tough to mount around the tool box. have you thought about mounting them right on the box?

I know of some really good campsites here in SoCal if youre worried about too much snow and prerunners making it..

I did. I want to move toolbox up a little and mount the brackets in the rail across the cab and angle the top back toward the cab. And would b high enough clear the toolbox.

OMG! Im gone for one day and all hell breaks loose! Shit, now we are all aorried and want to change the location? Really? I dont no about the rest of you, but with my big ass tires i usually never have problems in snow 2ft deep or less. So long as i have chains on It all works out well. But if you all really want to change the location just let me know and i will work on something else. Just thought we all wanted to do some fun running and test out our skills in the snow. Really? theres gonna be more than 2 feet of snow on the ground up there by the 9th 10th and 11th of DEC? I really doubt it, but we will see as it gets closer to the date. Ive been going to big bear since i was a kid, and always remember waiting till like the end of december more like Jan when they really start getting any significant snow. bUt i could be wrong. Just remember going up two years ago around the same time with my family and there wasnt much snow
