I probably didnt tell you but I rebuilt my bike and now it is a 490cc with race cam and fully ported, think fking hauls the mail, I dont know if you you ever go to Superstition but when I went up Sand Dam last time I clicked into 4th on the way up the hill and rode a wheelie the rest of the way up, lol. The thing is so wicked fast now I can even pop it up in a wheelie in 5th at about 40mph till whenever I decice to set it back down...

Correct, also VERY CORROSIVE to say the least, LOTS of minerals out ther that activate with water, you should see my 2005 CRF450 that got swamped, it actually etched the aluminum motor cases!!! Gnarly stuff.


But I have been going to Ocotillo every month for about 10 years, it RARELY rains out there even if the forecast says it did..

The only time it ever rains if is the storm comes from the south due to the lack of mountains, if it comes from the west or north the mountains break the storm and it doesnt rebuild till after the Salton sea. Happens every time, but I would love to have had some water hit the ground, dust is the bane of my existance.....

I cant wait, in less than 12 hours I will be driving my RV with toys in tow to the spot!!!! YAY!!! Going for a Jeep tour tonight to test the new suspension and lights, and maybe shoot some stuff, lol, its been known to happen. If anyone is out there tonight your welcome to come with me, I plan on doing into Devil slot canyon so not sure if the Yotas are short enough to make it, requires very sharp turns and if you break you will need a HELICOPTER to save you...

 

Oh yeah, bring your cold weather gear for nightime for all of you that are tenting it, going to be high 30s low 40s at night!!
Will be in the high 60s in the daytime so gonna be fairly cool out there FYI, so be prepared....

 

Last I looked for that area it says low in the 40's and high of 70-75.

 

I just checked weather report for that area and it says:
friday- 76/44
Sat - 77/46
Sun- 72/42.

 

Dude that sounds nuts! Cant wait to see it Jason I put on a new chain and went down to a 47 sprocket so I don't have to shift as quick it rode nice at superstition but by the end of the long ride it was getting really hot on me any suggestions?? I checked the coolant btw it looks full and clean still.. Also looking to get a desert tank next so keep an eye out on a used Ims tank for a CRF 250r

Well its gonna get hot if your lugg it in the sand, no fans on those radiators, gotta keep air moving through those rads especially in the sand..and I use Toyota red coolant and deionized water for coolant (50/50). Plus how do you know its hot, do you have a trailtech computer with coolant temp? Or did it start blowing out the coolant overflow?
Plus on Ebay they sell oversize radiators for about $110 shipped, I would highly recommend that, they hold about 30% more fluid compared to stock. I got them for my new build, I needed them...

 

Anyone coming from the north....I'm in Escondido and it makes more sense to just go via Julian???

Got it Jason. My dumbass was looking at Ocotillo, CA. And my friend has a body shop and theres a built 65 to 66 mustang with a Ford racing engine in it

 

It wasn't throwing out the fluid but after going down poleline hitting the whoops and ridding around some more as soon as I got off the throttle it shut off and wouldn't start till I let it sit for a bit even when i used the "hot start" also the bike itself just felt hot as hell! I'm gonna do my oil change today and maybe I'll just swap out the radiator fluid just to be safe.. I don't think I need a bigger radiator I'm not racing or anything so I don't think I need it

 

I take the 15 to the 76 and then up over Palomar then to Ocotillo, but Julian is a good way to go as well...I may do that too since it may help me avoid that mountain I have to go over, lol..
