You are talking what price? The $60 or the $500? Hopefully not the $500. What would I need to do? take the entire gauge cluster out? How long would it take you to do this? Because I would be shipping from Alabama, and would not want my truck to be in pieces for too long.

So ... the light from a bulb is omnidirectional. So instead of having a LED for each little section the older gen gauges have light pipes that carry light from the bulb to the place where it needs to be. You cant just shove an LED in there because you need to aim the led right at each light pipe and they come from all directions. This is necessary because the LEDs are very directional compared to a bulb. So, what this means for a first gen is a LOT of custom fabrication to aim a LED at each light pipe to make sure the lighting is even. next issue is that the LEDs are not 12v and will require current limiting resistors to keep them from overcurrenting and blowing up. This adds even more complexity to the custom fab work involved. So. the bottom line is its a TON of work to do it right and costs would be high and take much longer then just a couple hours.

Seth, do you think you could pull off a dash like what is in this youtube video? The instrument cluster in the video is from a VW mkIV GTI. The guy that did this mod, made it to when your speed increases the LEDs behind the speedometer follow behind the speed progressively increasing and decreasing, dependent on speed. Same for the RPM. I would think it is definitely possibly, and I even have a writeup for the particular dash that is pictures.

Just wondering if you could pull this off in a Tacoma. If so, I would be more then interested, and I'm sure others would be too.
