so with these though you can just pop the tailgate open and hop right in right? I mean I know if they want it they are going to get it, no matter where it is...but I mean I figure with a hard topper its a least a little more discouraging as opposed to the canvas.

I agree they look great. I probably wouldnt put anything in there of major importance just on trips to the beach and stuff like that...but still don't want to come out from the store getting gas and some shit head stole all my damn underwear or something....

Anyone have any idea how these are in the cold (-20F). Do they get too stiff to fold?

I assume the windows wouldn't fold well in the cold and crack

Ill take pics of the brackets today. I was in negative 15 temps two weeks ago. It got a little stiff but still worked. I had to unzip the back window to get all of our packs snowshoes and skis out for our 3 day trip.

Those look nice pricey though. I went with mine over the snugtop canvas one that kinda looks like the one you posted was because of the windows. I mainly bought it for my dog to be back there and camping.

I'm actually in the process of making my own, I was in the same situation as the OP, need one for camping/hiking, didn't like the price. Also I have an access tonneau that I didn't want to have to remove. Basically I'm just bending EMT tubing for a frame, attatching it with bolts and washers to the rails, and putting some serious stress on my non-existant sewing skills to get the canvas I bought to fit properly. Velcro flap in the back and front to access the sliding window or tailgate and I figure I made my own for about $50

Only problem is Minnesota and the fact that it has been -15 deg here for the last 7 days in a row, really puts a damper on any outdoor work/fitting

It works well, I really recommend it to anyone. I was washing my truck yesterday and a guy came up to me and asked how I liked it lol. For what I needed it for it exceeded my expectations. I leave it on because I like the way my truck looks with it on better now. When I bought it I was only going to put it on when I was going for a long drive with my dog or camping.
