Looking into buying a soft top either Bestop or Softopper, but leaning towards a Bestop since I like the side windows. I mainly drive highways and was wondering how well the soft tops handle at high speed 60-80mph. How stable are they and how well have they stayed intact after a couple of months or years?

I've had my used softtopper for a year now and its been great. I've gotten up to 90-100mph with the softtoper on and it didn't have any issues. Note: i always keep the sides down and buttoned up. I've never driven with the sides rolled up. I imagine it would be pretty sketchy at higher speeds but just guessing.

I have driven similar with I think coming close to 100 as my top speed just cause my truck sucks on MPG really bad. That said though it handles remarkedly well in 4-6 ft whoops at 50 mph so I think it could handle whatever you can throw at it on the street.

Did you have a bestop or softopper?

Would you recommend a softopper over the bestop?

I can’t speak about besttopper since I’ve never had one but i prefer the look of the soft topper. I prefer solid side panels over the “window” sides

I agree for the same reasons and I also had a soft topper. Do you have to remove the window panels to collapse the bestop? I don’t think I could really use the windows unless I was actually sitting in my bed.

That's a good point cuz on the bestop the windows have to be removed for it to collapse. That's something I'll think about before I make my purchase.

Have had my truck with softtop up to 85 sustained with no problems. I did not want side windows as it gives other ways for people to see what is in my bed. Also heard they get very brittle in the cold weathet.

I've had a Bestop for 6-7 years now. Truck is parked outside; the top is faded but it doesn't leak. the bolts have rusted cause none are stainless steel; I've replaced a couple, with stainless. I've never used the sides 'cause I got the top to provide shading for my dogs. It rattles a bit at speed - probably because I don't use the sides.

Thanks for the input everyone. I just wanted to make sure they held up pretty well before I actually purchased. After reading some of the comments here its started to sway me towards a Softopper now lol.

I like my Bestop. I've driven highway speeds on long road trips (FL to CO and back) with zero issues.

I only sweat when I take it to the automatic car wash and those air jets dry it. Those are some powerful jets!

No issues with a bestop on a long bed for many years now. I usually keep windows on but even without, it drives fine at highway speeds. Get a couple extra clamps or bolt the rail to the bed caps of you don't want to ever worry about it.

My Softopper has held up just fine for the last 4 years.
My topper has been on full time for the last year.

The wind doesn’t hurt them. You’ll understand that once you install it. Its bot flapping in the wind.

I recommend the Softopper because of the lack of side windows. Better security for whats in the bed.

I have had no issues at 80mph with my Softtopper, sides down or rolled up.
