So I just sold my extang tuxedo snap down tonneau cover. Thing drove me nuts, shrinking in the cold and busting my knuckles. Never mind the side rails always shifting around. Needless to say I wasn't a fan. I've been planning on buying OEM roof racks but I think I have a few more options.

I've pondered throwing a fiberglass shell/topper/cap on. New price is $2k for colour match with roof racks. I've sent an e-mail out to a guy selling his truck asking if he'd sell the cap alone. No response on a price.

Found a soft topper for sale too, $300, and I must admit it looks pretty cool. Anyone out in Tacoma World have shots of a double cab with roof racks and a black soft topper?

    Whad'ya think?

If you still want a tonneou cover, I recommend the extang trifold. I've had two previous covers with snaps and they suck. The trifold is quick and easy to reveal the bed.

Here is my truck with the Soft topper and Toyota roof racks.
Its a great set-up but I'm selling the top.
I loved the top and having it made me realize how much I really wanted a solid top. But these Soft tops are pretty cool.

These are my winter rims on the truck..

Those FJ steelies? I just picked up a set for some off-road tires. Trying to decide on which ones now.

I'd vote for naked. I had a Leer top on my previous truck and it was off just as much as it was on. So much so that I built a lift in my garage to help with the task. Now if you're asking about looks, then for me I love the look of a color matched top. But, I'm a function before form kind of guy.

Not sure honestly. Picked them up at Toyota dealership when I first bought the truck. Got them cheap for $60/rim. I just use them in the winter time

    Thanks everyone.

What's the noise like with the soft toppers on the highway? And do they leak like old tents... "Don't touch the sides!"

I never heard any noise from mine while on the highway. The water never came in from the sides but in the corners I did get some leakeage but not much.

It's really tough to beat the convenience of the Softopper. I don't even notice it's there while driving, and the fact that you can fold it down in a few minutes or remove it completely all by yourself makes it very handy. Not to mention it looks pretty damn cool

I love my softopper, no trade offs in my opinion. Easy to remove, small storage size, folds out of the way, light weight, and looks good.

Going to meet buddy tomorrow - he's sending me dimensions tonight, it's coming off a Canyon and I want to make sure she'll fit.

Won't be getting much sleep tonight!
