up north, where it snows a fuckton

a softtopper longevity is equal to, or better than, a convertible car factory top

Where I live it changes temperature a lot, lots of ice storms, +10 one day -39 the next, feet of wet heavy snow, a soft topper isn't a good choice. Just my experience.

Thanks! No, he does custom fencing and happens to have nice tools and everything for that. No, I don't have a build thread on it either lol
I just had a general idea of what I wanted and so we built it from scratch and it turned out good! Haha. I'll post a couple pictures of the process though.

We did a lot of measuring and double checking measurementshas. He basically has an autocad program hooked up to a plasma cutter so you just draw what you want and it'll cut it out. Then we welded the 2 bed rail peices together and bent them. Then bent the pipe in a hydraulic bender and welded it to the bed rail pieces. We also put some tie down points and 2 pod light mounting points. Took about 15 hrs total.

I really like the look of the rack over the softopper. especially that one. I need to figure one out for mine.

I feel better sleeping in my hard top. The whole purpose of it was to get myself out of a tent and under some actual comfy protection. You can also get the extended height version if you want extra room, not sure if soft tops offer that. There's also a lot more room in them. You can see the size difference by comparing all the soft top pictures in this thread to my hard top that I turned into a camper. Expect to pay though to get what you really want. I optioned out an extended height SnugTop which was $2600 out the door. Tracks with roof racks would have added another $500 so I waited on that. It's strong. The salesman walked around on top of it when showing me the different models.

I would never buy a soft topper where I live, I have seen the effects on friends vehicles.

The planet is a large place, not sure on the relevance of your comment.

Well I ended up ordering a soft shell. I live in Oklahoma so it doesn't get too crazy as far as weather goes (well except the tornados...) I think it's gonna work out really well for my needs. Since security isn't a big concern I decided the hard shell was just too expensive for me right now. Once I get it in I'll post some pics!

Has anyone had issues with the Velcro at the front of the bestop not sticking? The front piece of my topper keeps getting pushed in by the wind...
