Currently running stock SR suspension. Much rougher than my previous stock 2017 trd off-road. Anyone have any recommendations? Been reading some posts and seeing that 5100’s and 6112’s are even more rough. What will give me that comfortable ride I had on my previous off-road?

Swapping in some low mile takeoff OR springs, shocks, and sway bar? They all can be had for cheap in the BST section.

BTW, I agree that the 5100s are as firm as my Sport suspension with different characteristics, but the reading that I have seen is the 6112s should be close to the OR? I like my 5100 fronts and am waiting on the rears to arrive.

Thanks for the response. I was leaning towards just picking up someone’s takeoffs just didn’t know if they’re were any better options for a more quality setup that’s just as soft.

    Ah. I get you.

The super plush stuff seems to come with big price tags, but there might be reasonable options?

I can confirm, the 6112s feel very similar to the OR suspension. I went from the OR suspension to the 6112s and the ride feels almost completely the same.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I'm not sure if it translates to Tacoma's, but the eibach 2.0 coilovers ride very soft on my tundra. I actually was caught off guard by how plush they ride.

Same for me as well. The largest benefit was the increased heat capacity and worth it for my uses.

I have the Fox 2.0 Performance setup (probably on the expensive side of things) and it feels really good on and off road. It lifted my truck about 1.5 inches in the front so I have a 0.5ish spacer in the rear to level it out. This kit ran me ~$1650 for parts + installation

I’ve read that the Fox 2.0 are really stiff on road, how do you feel them? Only reason I was leaning towards Bilsteins over the Fox 2.0’s.

They don't feel stiff for me. I think the ride height is adjustable on these shocks so the lower the height, the softer the ride and vice versa.

Thanks for input, shock surplus has them for about $1080 for the front and rear. Seems like a good deal would just need and AAL for rear lift.

Aren’t they preset to 2 inches? 2 inches of lift is what I’m looking for.

Really, thanks guess I’ll go with some Bilsteins then.

I complained about my 2020 sr5 being much too stiff a ride when it was new, but the suspension gradually settled in. Its got those hitachi shocks, or whatever they are. Right now the ride is firm, but will never be as plush as my 2001 tundra.

I had a stock 2016 SR5 for 3 years, then I drove a stock 2020 OR for 1 winter, then i upgraded the OR with king 2.5 extended travel shocks and Dakar’s. I can barely tell the difference on the road between all of them. I think this is like comparing red wine. Blindfolded you might not be able to identify them. Where I do notice a difference is high speed stuff off road, but even that I has not reached my high expectations of a $3000 suspension upgrade. My truck is no side-by-side.

CAVEAT: I also switched to e-load range mud terrains when I upgraded the suspension.
